Muti Music is pleased to announce the release of the 4th installment of remix EPs from the Sizzla album Born A King, which we released in May of this year. The album produced by Mista Savona has received critical acclaim and charted in the top 20 of iTunes Reggae, and the single 'Champion Sound' (featured & remixed in this EP) has also been living in the Beatport Reggae Top 10 for the past 4 months.

'Champion Sound' showcases Sizzla at his finest in a soundclash style - "all them come a talk, none of them caan come test!" - alongside rocksteady legend Errol Dunkley who supplies some really beautiful vocals throughout the tune - "Babylon pressure is all around, but we can conquer them with our sound". Mista Savona also brings the guns blazing, providing his original & heavy Rockers instrumental the 'Soundclash Riddim' together with some remarkably tough vocal versions - featuring Jamaican legends Turbulence, Iyashanti, Johnny Clarke, Determine & the one and only Burro Banton (in one of his hardest tunes yet!)

The Electronic remix lineup is one of the strongest so far, stacked with a variety of genres that includes Drum & Bass and Junglist-styled beats from Dub Phizix, Skeptical and Dov1, a relentlessly funky Glitch Hop version by Spoonbill that is bound to destroy a few dancefloors and turn more than a few heads. Roommate provides a well needed deep Dubstep version, and Hypha and LeGinge provide melodic and Glitchy versions with a hint of Future-bass and R&B influences.

To give some background on this project - whilst on tour in Australia we met Mista Savona, a Melbourne based producer who had just returned from Jamaica with a bag of new riddims and an almost-completed album with legendary reggae artist Sizzla. We listened to the tunes and loved the fresh new sounds and very positive feel of the album, with its uplifting messages and inspired vocal performances. Muti Music has been releasing a series of Remix EP's based around the album's May 2014 release, featuring producers at the leading edge of dance music globally. These have been receiving rave reviews across the Blogosphere, play on BBC, XFM, Sirius and numerous other internet and FM stations, as well as reviews in high profile magazines like DJMAG.

Esce il 14 ottobre 2014 il primo full-length del progetto DubFiles, nato dalla mente di Paolo Baldini. Già bassista di band come B.R. Stylers e Africa Unite, Baldini negli ultimi anni si è imposto come uno dei produttori più interessanti del panorama musicale italiano, dimostrando di sapersi destreggiare con abilità tra sonorità prettamente reggae (Mellow Mood in primis), derive elettroniche (Dub Sync) e rock’n’roll tinto di world music (Tre allegri ragazzi morti).
Il progetto DubFiles esordisce a inizio 2013 ed inizialmente si compone di una serie di video, pubblicati in rete, che intendono documentare quello che succede all’interno dell’Alambic Conspiracy Studio, quando Baldini al mixer crea delle versioni dub di produzioni del suo team e diversi cantanti si cimentano al microfono con interpretazioni alternative degli stessi riddim.
Centinaia di migliaia di visualizzazioni dopo, è ora di trasformare questo insieme di video in un album vero e proprio. Alla voce troviamo Jacob, L.O. e Jules I dei Mellow Mood, Andrew I, Forelock (voce dei sardi Arawak) e lo spagnolo Sr. Wilson, tutti componenti del team a geometria variabile che accompagna Baldini nelle trasposizioni live del progetto. Ospiti speciali, la superstar portoghese Richie Campbell, il musicista australiano Dub Fx ed il rapper inglese Rawz.
DubFiles vuole essere un richiamo positivo alla sterminata serie di collaborazioni tra DJ giamaicani e i produttori più celebri dell’isola (esempio celebre “Yabby You meets Trinity at King Tubby’s Dub Station”), restando volutamente analogico nelle sonorità e nell’uso dell’effettistica. Baldini mette in mostra la sua abilità al mixer in un album che testimonia la prolificità del produttore pordenonese e del suo team di lavoro.

BIOGRAFIA:

Paolo Baldini nasce a Pordenone nel 1975. È considerato uno dei produttori più interessanti del panorama indipendente italiano. Con la sua prima band (B.R.Stylers) si distingue nel panorama reggae italiano per l’uso predominante dell’elettronica e di sonorità di ispirazione UK, che lo avvicinano a nomi come Revolutionary Dub Warriors e Zion Train e che saranno suo segno distintivo per un lungo periodo. Nel 2006 entra a far parte degli Africa Unite, di cui produce due dischi (Controlli e Rootz). La collaborazione con Madaski si estende anche al progetto Dub Sync, di cui è bassista e produttore. Il suo approccio si fa sempre più analogico e ispirato ai grandi nomi del dub made in Jamaica come King Tubby o Scientist. Nel 2010 produce per i Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti “Primitivi Del Futuro”, esperimento di contaminazione rock-reggae, che avrà un seguito in “Nel Giardino Dei Fantasmi”, dove invece il rock è tinto di world music. È il produttore storico dei Mellow Mood, sicuramente il suo prodotto di respiro più internazionale, e di cui cura anche i progetti paralleli. Nel 2014 esordisce per La Tempesta con il suo progetto DubFiles, testimonianza del suo lavoro di dubmaster, accompagnato da diversi cantanti (Mellow Mood, Forelock, Richie Campbell, Sr. Wilson, Andrew I e Dub Fx).
