In this chapter we knew Vardae, our beloved Cedric, who suddenly became a great friend due to his curious, interesting and pretty personality.

Vardae (@vardaemusic) is a project with the ambition of breaking away from the genre barrier, to explore new sounds territory around the love of psychedelic music. His productions and performances result in a percussive and hypnotic sound, a combination of tribal rhythms, repetitive leads and atmospheric textures which navigates from dub to tribe, passing through techno and drum’n’bass. Vardae defends a universe where immersion and experience prevail over codes with the idea of offering a journey to each of its appearances.

The first podcast of the year features our dear friend, London-based DJ, and sound artist, Faery. Many of you are likely familiar with her work and may have experienced her enchanting performances at renowned venues like Amsterdam’s De School, Positive Education Festival, or London’s Village Underground. She has crafted an immersive, hour-long winter mix for us, which we are incredibly proud to present 🕯️

Faery’s hypnotic selections blend the psychedelic depths of deep techno, tripped-out psy-influenced sounds, dark vortex-like D’n’B, and experimental ambient. Her sound navigates through intricate sound design and rich, moody textures, both within the club realm and in listening scenarios. One of the notable examples of this is her ambient sound art project Bio-17 released last year, where original biorhythmic samples are woven into experimental ambient to create speculative sonic worlds 🌚✨

Faery’s profound introspective journey takes us through the shadowy realms of crepuscular ambient and downtempo. From the outset, we are lured and caught in its rich honey-like currents, spiralling like dervishes as we dive deep and deeper into the mystical sonic gyre. No words can do the sensation justice, so you’ll just have to try for yourselves. Happy swirling 💫

Axymt. (@axymt) is a vinyl collector. His curation mainly oscillate between ambient and deep techno. From Lyon, it’s with passion for hypnotic rhythms and patterns that he creates his sets. Member of several collectives such as Monochrome association, Ouroboros or atmòs sphaîra, Axymt. is well known for his ability to create an immersive atmosphere during his performances. He always looking for create a ritual for listeners, using his music to guide them on a deep inner journey.

For this new episode, Axymt offers us a deep subaquatic sonic journey, letting us feel invigorated and transformed by fast hypnotic techno rhythms, with envelopping atmospheres and strong attention to minimalist patterns.

For this episode, Axymt invites us to discover Hvergelmir.

In Norse mythology, Hvergelmir is described as a massive spring located in the realm of Niflheim, one of the Nine Worlds. Niflheim is known for its extreme cold and darkness, and Hvergelmir is said to be the coldest and darkest place within it.

Hvergelmir is considered the source of all living waters in the cosmos. It is the origin of eleven rivers called the Élivágar, which flow through Niflheim. These rivers eventually contribute to the creation of the primeval giant Ymir, who is the progenitor of the giants in Norse mythology.

According to some accounts, Hvergelmir is also home to the dragon Níðhöggr, who gnaws at the roots of the world tree Yggdrasil. The water from Hvergelmir is believed to nourish the roots of Yggdrasil, which helps sustain the entire cosmos.

In Norse cosmology, Hvergelmir holds significant importance as one of the primal forces of creation, embodying the concept of primordial chaos and the origin of life-giving waters in the universe.

SKIN Podcast Series #018 Aerae - Introducing Aerae, a versatile artist whose repertoire spans from deep techno to drum & bass. Inspired by organic and tribal sounds, her music and sets are characterized by contrasting melodies that dive deep into themes of introspection and the magnificence of nature.

In the past five years, Aerae has shared stages throughout Europe alongside renowned artists, where she was able to explore and expand the edges of her musical interests. And with her recent debut LP ‘Percussive Reverie’ released on Annulled Music, she set the tone for a new chapter in her musical career. As you can understand, we couldn’t do anything other than invite her for a podcast. 

With a focus on percussion, trippy sounds, and storytelling, her selections for this dreamy set promise an organic and energetic flow with a tribal edge.

This season, synonymous with life and renewal, is the perfect time to launch this new opus in the ACCENTVA series, a deliberately eclectic and inclusive review of current developments on the electronic music scene. With a more generous format than ever before, it makes room for both well-known label producers and pioneering artists whose work criss-crosses the world with their unique and immediately identifiable sound. Nearly thirty artists have responded to the invitation and are brought together here to give us a glimpse into the prism of contemporary musical creation. Nor are there any presupposed and therefore definitive barriers of genre or style, On the contrary, the contours here are intended to be voluntarily porous and slippery, each track being interconnected with another, or at least echoing what we might call the zeitgeist.

"It was my fourth time behind the decks of my favorite club in Lyon and it was my best experience in this place so far. 
I loved spending these three hours and opening the club for @voiski's live set and @sinaxxmusic. 
Starting with deep techno and moving towards something more mental, broken and full of weird textures, using sometimes timeless bangers and new musical weapons. This set was full of spontaneity and that's why it was this good.
Sadly, the record cut somewhere before the end of my set for some reasons but nevermind, feeling really stoked to have these 2,5 hours as a reminder.

Vector Field is a sound technician, producer, and DJ. He has
been active in the electronic music scene since the late 90s, starting with collecting records and mixing on vinyls in small raves in the countryside. Drawing from various experiences, he transmits positive energy through its own music, infusing it with his special touch, which is a mix between layered rhythms and evolving soundscapes with a special kind of kinetic energy. Tentacular is back this week with incredibly talented, stuttgart based, producer Laima Adelaide (@amlia) 

Founder of @predawnrecords, she is also a highly skilled composer, producer, and dj with impressive musical foresight and taste, focusing on deep and ambient techno. Noisy textures, hypnotic beats and airy harmony define her very unique sound signature, both minimalist and pure, with impeccable sound design and an aesthetic close to the Bauhaus school. 

In this mix, she blends subtle frequencies and polyrhythms to evoke the imagery of a macroscopic or molecular world that blurs. This creates a merging effect between the boundaries of electronic music and natural phenomena. By combining nature's textures and organic elements, Laima orchestrates a sonic ride exploring the interplay between sound and nature.

Laima Adelaide shared a few words with her mix:

"Recently I have been inspired by fast tempo and a groove which comes in a faster BPM range. Also with a lot of futuristic sound design elements. I looked for soft and deep tracks with a subtle energy and unexpected turns. Recording the mix was like a meditation for me to listen to all the details and flow with the groove. I also feel quite fascinated by the dimensions of space and how architecture interacts with sound waves, so I picked tracks which play with different acoustics."

Tentacular 17 ~ Laima Adelaide

Sindh is back on his own imprint and introduce the 'Komudo Series' focuses on mind and body movement. Still infused into tribalism and rituals, this first opus composed by four original tracks merges subttle darkness and evolving alien textures with strong grooves. 'Akureh' kicks off its menacing low ends and warped bass that never lets up, 'Quake' suspends you amongst fluttering snares and drawn out whistles over linear beats and 'Liquefaction then gets more gritty with dirty loops and plenty of tension before 'Swarms' shuts down with a more thumping deep techno sound.

Tbilisi based @bongvr is an advocate of ritualistic musical hypnosis. Resident of Sacred Sound, a collective based in St. Petersburg, and founder of Thesis, an event series with a deep focus on transversal repetitive electronic experimentations, he emerged from the scene with releases from the likes of @bahnbarcelona, @inphase_label and @westrulesrecords. He has also played at numerous events in Moscow and St. Petersburg, at locations such as Mosaique, RAF25, RNDM and Blank.
