All new material from my forthcoming album. These tracks reflect what I've been working on in the past couple of years. Most of the sounds are generated from recorded voice and other sounds using granular synthesis - Robert Henke's Granulator, to be more specific.

Electric Indigo - solo live demo 2013

This is a sequence of snippets of my composition Morpheme. I generated all sounds from a recording of Sadie Plant speaking 'To let noise into the system is a kind of fine art in both cybernetic terms and in terms of making music, too.' 
The piece premiered at Heroines Of Sounds Festival at Berghain Kantine in Berlin on June 12 2014.

The title 109.47 degrees refers to the ideal tetrahedal angle in foams as described in Plateau’s laws. In this work, Electric Indigo creates complex sonic structures composed of very small acoustic entities. These structures live on friction, cohesion and constant movement. Sloterdijk’s “Spheres” trilogy was an important inspiration for the composition, especially the “foam” metaphor to describe and comprehend a multifocal society of individuals who live in an highly interdependent, globalized world.

Scenes 19 to 24 of the theater play "Das kleine Zimmer am Ende der Treppe" at KosmosTheater, Vienna. The most complex piece i made for the play. I used a recording of a rainstick and put different parts of the sample tuned differently for left and right channel on multiple tracks. Additionally, the rainstick sounds are granulated, as well as a recording of my own voice speaking the only song that is sung by the actresses: a la claire fontaine. "Tolkowsky's Refraction" is the escape from a personal predicament: As a political person I feel the urge to not only take a stand as a private individual but also as an artist. However, I have not yet found a convincing way for myself to accomplish this task by means of abstract, instrumental music. 

Therefore, I chose to use the complete opposite as a subject: the very formalistic structure, the absolute order and elegance of of the perfectly cut diamond. The model of this ideal cut, also known as Tolkowsky’s cut, is based on geometric calculations that ensure the optimum brilliance and fire by a maximum of light refraction in the facets. This piece is my retreat into mathematical precision, prosaic numerical proportions and regular angles in the light of the epitome of mineral beauty and purity.

The composition’s structure is based on the proportions, angles, and facets of Tolkowsky’s model. Musically, it is inspired by quality criteria of a diamond such as clarity, symmetry, dispersion, pleochroism, scintillation,, fluorescence.

Joseph Haydn - Winter / Electric Indigo Flachs Dub

Chiffres is a commissioned piece for e_may, premiere in Vienna on 25 Oct. 2012 @ e_may festival / Wien Modern.

Composition for computer, 5 discrete channels, the numbers 0 - 15 spoken in 21 languages / 36 dialects by 30 speakers, and a total of 50 Granulators (the magnificent synthesizer made by Robert Henke). Duration of original work: 15 minutes and 7 seconds.

Electric Indigo works as musician, composer and DJ. Her name stands for the intelligent interpretation of techno and electronic music. 

She started her DJ career in 1989 in Vienna and worked at the legendary Hard Wax record store in Berlin from 1993 to 1996. In 1998, she created female:pressure, the international database for female, non-binary and transgender artists in the fields of electronic music and digital arts which got an Honorary Mention at Prix Ars Electronica 2009. 2012 she received the 'oustanding artist award' in the category Computer Music from the Austrian Ministry for Arts and Culture. 

She makes music for concert spaces, clubs and occasionally for stage plays and short films. In her compositions and live performances, she emphasizes the spatial-temporal placement of subtly elaborated sounds and structures, often generated from speech recordings. Electric Indigo shuttles between Vienna and Berlin.
