Streetside by Protocol Afro

In mid-2015, Jakarta-based band Protocol Afro re-released their debut album, “The Youth”, for the Japanese market in Japan through Moorworks Records, where the album consists of songs from the original Indonesian market version of the album (through Indische Partij Records), with additional previously unreleased songs.

In the spirit of Record Store Day 2016, Protocol Afro releases a 2-song single, made up of the additional songs from the Japanese market version of “The Youth”.

The first song is a repackaged version of the band’s old single“Music (Dance With Me)” with new vocals track sung in Japanese by Puti Chitara (https://soundcloud.com/putichitara), a local singer-songwriter who is also member of Barasuara, the hottest indie band in Indonesia right now.

The second song is the newest number from Protocol Afro, titled “Borneo”. Different from the previous songs theme, which focused more on youth life (freedom, love, and having fun), through the new song Protocol Afro focuses more on the environmental issues in Indonesia, specifically related to deforestation.

This special 2-song single is now available through Indische Partij Records’ Soundcloud account (https://soundcloud.com/indische-partij-records) and music streaming services like Deezer, Apple Music, and Spotify.

Currently Protocol Afro is in the process of writing and recording new materials for their second album.

Protocol Afro - Music (Dance With Me) [Japanese Version Feat. Puti Chitara)

Several years ago, based on his admiration towards Sondre Lerche and the early 00s Brit Rock scene, Jakarta-based IT practicioner named Firmansyah Apriyadhi began writing and recording songs under the pseudonym of The Rush Man. There were several songs recorded back then, but since Firmansyah was too occupied with his work commitments, those songs never get published.

Having the songs “sitting” on Firman’s computer for too long, he decided to release some of the songs in the format of an EP, titled “Riki Riot EP”, through Jakarta-based independent music label & artist management agency, Indische Parij Records. "Riki Riot EP” is the second release by Indische Partij Records, where most of the instruments recorded in the EP were performed by Firmansyah himself.
