Can't Turn Back (Preview)

A Saturday afternoon mess around in the studio led to the creation of a cover of the 80's Electronic hit "The Model" by Kraftwerk. I have tried to keep some of the sounds close to the original but it's not easy.

This is a sample of the fourth track from my forthcoming album "Misunderstood". This track was done on a Sunday afternoon just before Christmas whilst thinking of all of those friends and family members who will not be with us this Christmas. I didn't want to create something too sad, more so something a little jolly but sympathetic.

Absent At Christmas (Preview)

My mum (Ann)and I shared a love of music.  She used to sit with me many times in my studio listening to me play and we had lots of happy times together. This track was the first track that I ever finished and she was sat next to me when I did. She really liked it and asked for a copy of it on CD, so I called the track Ann's Song' and dedicated it to her. Sadly, she passed away 18 months later and I had this played at her funeral as a tribute.

As a child of the 80's I grew up in an era of the original computer music and musicians. I was a Commodore 64 owner and was amazed at what musicians could do with this machine at the time. I was massive fan of Martin Galway who worked for a software house in Manchester called Ocean and then Imagine and Rob Hubbard who created some of the most upbeat and funky music on the C64.

One particular track that I loved was a hi-score tune for a game called Monty on the Run by Gremlin Graphics. This tune was melodic and cheerful and I have very fond memories of listening to this track.

When I created my studio I wanted to re-create a C64 track and I chose this track for this purpose.

This track was created with a number of VST's inside Cubase 8.5. If you were a C64 owner, a child of the 80's like me and loved SID music this should bring back fond memories.

A wanna be musician who loves all types of music and thought I might have a try at creating some of my own. All self-taught having never had a lesson, I probably don't qualify as such but it's no harm trying. Plus, my bucket list has "Create a Music Album" on it, so if you think any of the tracks included should be on the Album, please let me know.
