Wanted to give you guys a little background on what inspired me to write “Reflection.” Here it goes… 

As some of you may know, I quit my job in the corporate sector earlier this year to pursue music full-time. It was one of the biggest decisions I’ve ever had to make… So many questions ran through my mind. 

I’ve known since I was a kid that I want to be a composer/musician. It’s crazy how time flies and the next moment you’re no longer a kid. The transition post-corporate life has definitely had its ups and downs, but that’s part of it; that’s life. By the summer though, I was feeling discouraged, lost, and defeated. It was during that time I found a school journal entry I wrote when I was 9 years old. “When I grow up, I want to be a concert pianoist.” (Couldn’t spell pianist back then lol.) When you’re a kid, your dreams seem so obtainable. As you get older, societal and cultural norms seem to tell you otherwise. There are so many paths you can take in life- one of those paths is what you 'should' be on and another you know you're meant to be on. 

I wrote this piece in introspection and reflection of that notion. Reading what 9-year old Raashi wrote inspired and reminded me to change my mindset once again, continue working hard, and make dreams become a reality- no regrets. “Reflection” is a story of the adventure thus far.
