Mirae Arts announces the release of The Way I Am and The Way You Yawn, the debut album from Katsunori Sawa under his new KWARP alias. Katsunori Sawa is a distinguished figure in Kyoto's experimental music scene. Sawa first made waves in 2008 on the UK-based Ai Records under his EOC alias. Over the years, he has contributed significantly to the music world by running the now-defunct 10 Label and collaborating with renowned artists like Yuji Kondo (as Steven Porter), Martsman (as Bokeh), and DJ Nobu (Nobusawa). These collaborations have seen releases on prestigious labels such as Kynant Records, SNTS, and Token.

As a solo artist, Sawa's music is crafted in his hidden studio, nestled within the cement walls of a Tadao Ando-designed building. His unique sound, characterized by rhythmic noise and undulating bottom-end rave abstractions, has earned him an album release on Opal Tapes, making him the label's first Japanese artist. 

This six-track album marks a significant evolution in Sawa's musical journey, blending his experimental roots with fresh, vibrant textures. The Way I Am and The Way You Yawn reflects on the fleeting nature of youth and the aspiration to maintain a childlike curiosity, while also acknowledging the fatigue that comes with aging. Mostly produced with modular synthesizers and analog equipment, the album takes listeners on an auditory adventure through a series of imaginative soundscapes.

The album opens with Frog FM, a track characterized by forward-driving hi-hats and alien voices echoing and clashing, reminiscent of a scrambled FM frequency or a child playing with an analog radio dial. Light Dash follows, placing the listener in the cockpit of an unknown vehicle emitting reverberating artificial sounds. Side A closes with The Spectator, featuring voices from above and creatures talking with one another.

Side B begins with PlayStation, evoking the sounds of a gaming console booting up. Metal Gear reflects the inner metallic workings powering our entertainment. The album concludes with Ultra, a track filled with belching aggression and mechanical expressions, almost as if the music itself is trying to escape the speakers.

Take a step back from your emotions. Putting them down on paper. Exuding its darkness. L'Ombre De Toi Même was conceived as a travelogue, a journey into the darkness Lord Jalapeños has crossed. Already signed to labels such as Science Culte and Diffuse Reality, this time the producer offers twelve fragments of his soul on Ethos Records, accompanied by three remixes by Lostsoundbytes, Boris Barksdale and Lemon Schaden.

This opus sounds like the soundtrack to a trashy thriller, where the emptiness is crushing, the outbursts threatening, and the cries of instinct chilling. Where ambient meets metal, where meaninglessness meets punk rage, it's crunchy, suffocating, deep black bass superimposed on distorted, imploring synths. Sleep paralysis encoded in electronic poetry.

Proveniente de Caracas, Venezuela XIWIRE se incursiona en la producción de música electrónica a través de la práctica de livecoding, generación de música a través de código escrito en vivo. Mente inquieta por naturaleza, programa sus propios sintetizadores y herramientas de producción y generación musical, los cuales combina con cajas de ritmo y sintetizadores modulares. Su sonido ata sus diversas inspiraciones, entre ellas, la música underground de Internet, el metal y la música de rave, buscando la convivencia de ritmos rotos, texturas abrasivas y arpegios esperanzadores, en un constante coqueteo con el ruido. substitute es el resumen de 5 años de exploración musical en la electrónica emprendido como un escape de sí misma. A través de un hilo de improvisaciones en vivo grabadas directo de máquinas, es un intento de afrontar el fracaso con dignidad, comunicar sin usar la palabra, y barajar la posibilidad de la esperanza en momentos oscuros. Having dedicated her life to unearthing the long lost gems of the early 80s via her Minimal Wave imprint, as well as curating thrilling modern music for her sub-label Cititrax, Veronica Vasicka has made a name for herself calling the shots from behind the curtain. Today, she steps into the spotlight as the headline artist with her highly anticipated debut solo 12″ on Regis’ imprint, Downwards. ‘From Here’ was recorded in 2004, with no intent to be released. Framed by a larger, more intimate process for Veronica, who was then keeping a sonic diary of her daily adventures via a 4-track recorder and analog synths, it puts into perspective the personal evolution and singular nature of one of today’s most acclaimed DJs and selectors to frequent the stages.

Setting up an out and out anxiogenic, eerie industrial atmosphere from your darkest fantasies, Veronica’s original mix burns slowly, like a glowing candle in the cold night. Exposing a musical identity both sensuous and disenchanted, the track gets all the more dancy and carnal in the hands of Regis, who tweaks it into a smooth libertine late-nighter. Second to counter-seal ‘From Here’, former Nitzer Ebb and Depeche Mode collaborator Paul Kendall transforms it into a more riff-charged, busy sound design where textured membranes dangerously bleed into one another as distortions convulse recognisable shapes into an abstract tableau of machine whispers and altered fragrances. To top things off in regal manner, Robert Hampson – founder of the legendary band Loop and also Main – adds a propulsive, hi-NRG twist and delay-soaked dimension to the vibrant multiverse that makes for a variedly-nuanced debut 12″. A unique, shape-shifting object that suits Veronica Vasicka’s complex musical persona like a glove. And finally, the artwork is designed by Veronica herself, featuring two self-portraits she shot on 35mm film at 16 years of age.
