"BirdNET" es el primer release del proyecto musical de Antonia Mosso aka paltamango. Un relato de seis tracks y un interludio componen esta producción realizada desde el puerto. En su producción nos comparte armonías nostálgicas y samples de aves marinas que grabó durante el verano en una caleta cercana. Junto a la sonoridad de sus sintes predilectos, paltamango nos presenta un larga duración lleno de texturas y pasajes inspirados en el mar vivo y una ciudad oxidada por sal y humedad.

Un suave pasaje por géneros como el minimal, el electro y a veces un poco de dembow, BirdNET es la conclusión de un largo camino de exploración por diferentes sonoridades en la música electrónica y alude también a una fascinación personal inexplicable por las aves. Ambientes sobre el subir escaleras eternas, el olor a mar y los barcos que llegan a puerto. Recolección de cochayuyos y arena en los zapatos. Oda al misterio en la costa y las gaviotas.

El álbum finaliza con un remix realizado por syntrovert, desde el interior de la quinta región. Esta versión más clubera de 557 just in time, acelera los bpm originales recapitulando la esencia lúgubre de BirdNET. Un break beat final para este viaje en el tiempo.

El arte fue realizado por mariapepinos. En una técnica mixta de puntillismo y pixeles se recrean algunos de nuestrxs amigxs marinxs favoritos y el castillo abandonado que inspiró gran parte del disco.

‘Soul Cooking’ is the debut EP by Martini, moniker of American multimedia artist Marnie Pagter. Built-in parallel to their visual works, the release was inspired by a wide conglomeration of disparate sources and genres, which were channelled together as a cleansing exercise.

Their fervent production engulfs the viewer with an arcane sound palette that alludes to a story of introspection. A sense of paradoxical juxtaposition lies at the base of the EP, which guides the viewer through a tumultuous journey of beauty and discomfort. The whole release is marked by haunting vocals which are paired together with grating percussion to create a cacophonic mixture of emotions.

The emotive vision from our pasts lends itself to being heard in the collective intimacy of our dancefloors.

In the 2018, under the strategy of the snail that collects knowledge and waits patiently for its moment, we started this netlabel’s catalogue. We did it through its foundational material: Esquirlas; a first compiled that welcomed the name of those producers from the South American diaspora who brought with them the freshness of an emerging sound, and the energy of a completely reborn scene. Producers who, like us, also respond to the Latin underclub movement, like cells in a network of affection. To them, we attribute a starting point: Produce tracks that evokes your first approaches to rhythm, that reconstruct a sound landscape, a sensory memory that has been imprinted in your memory: the roar of a Street party, the spund of the rain drops on the zinc roof, the trill of a bird in the river, the proclamation of a street vendor.

Five years later, we congregate again under this same premise. Many things have changed on our stages, and the assemblages that we harvested in resistance, this time enriched of new sounds; broken, swollen or decomposed, like Marosa mushrooms, give place to new productions of meaning. To these new clubs and producers 
who have been following us for a long time- we welcomed to Esquirlas 2.

We thank them for having participated and for doing what we did ten years ago. And to those who make the dancefloors with their steps, our utmost respect. May the memory always last even in the ephemerality of the dancefloor.
