Ahead of the release of Cook Strummer's Berlin Gets Physical in September comes the first of two EPs from it. 

Berlin-based Cacao Records bosses and brotherly duo KEENE are behind the opening track. They are regulars on labels like Connected and have a deep and spiritual house sound. That is the case here with the dynamic drums and chunky bass of 'Ecoute' which comes with Afro vocals and loose, organic percussion. It's a fantastically atmospheric affair followed by a collaboration between two more Berlin based artists Los Cabra & Manuel Sahagun. 

They mix organic rhythms and electronic tension on labels like Bar 25 Music and Stil Vor Talent. Here, their 'Italian Groove' is a crisp tech house offering with snappy snares and tight drums. Once they have you locked in, a rugged bass synth signals take off while ever more lush and cosmic synths colour the airwaves. It's an expansive and high energy track to ignite any DJ set. 

This superb EP is a great taster of the full compilation to come.

It’s time again to add another sonic journey to the Watergate Mix series catalogue and for this endeavour we have enlisted one of the scene’s brightest shining stars and club mainstay; Jimi Jules. By now it’s safe to say that Jimi has solidified himself as one of today’s most exciting producers, as displayed in his discography gracing illustrious labels like Innervisions and Cocoon and breathe taking remixes of WhoMadeWho and Henrik Schwarz. Not one to be confined to a single facet, Jules’ prowess as a bonafide selector is equally comparable to his skills as a producer and both are on full display here as the mix is made up twenty-one tracks, thirteen of them being Jules’ own whether they be originals, remixes, or special edits made especially for this compilation.

Italian DJ and producer but foremost musical genius and enthusiast Toto Chiavetta has stired the electronic music scene with complex arrangements, with sound arrays as strong and memorable that it's almost impossible to name them individually but rather understand the momentum when listening to his music in its entirety. 2018 has seen the Catanian releasing three EPs on renowed labels such as Innervisions, Mule Musiq and Yoruba Records, namely 'Harmony Somewhere', 'Magnus' and 'Nagnu Jubo (Remixes)', a single track, 'The Paranoid GoGo' on Multinotes' – run by Lehar, Musumeci and Olderic, and a remix for Eagles & Butterflies' tune 'The Last Dance'. When speaking of Toto Chivetta it is inevitable not to talk about his versatility as his music contains various elements from different cultures and styles with the artist  combining them skillfully so that any electronic music affiliate can pick out Toto's characteristic sound. For Torture the Artist's jubilee art:cast Chiavetta focused on a slow build-up, on music that does not necessarily find its way to the club or the dance floor or as the artist said '20-30 minutes are fore the dancers'. While some of selected tracks for Toto's art:cast on the one side depict the basis and the strength to catch up with his groove others express Toto's experimental and playfull musical approach. However, if you entirely dive into the artist's world of sound, you will not only witness new sound-experiences but feel the bound between humans and music as Chiavetta's music will slowly become part of your   musical expression and introduce you to new perspectives.

Schon relativ lange verhältnismäßig tief involviert in allerlei Vorgänge mit Bezug zu in einschlägigen Kreisen bekannten Phänomenen wie Groove, Melodie und Bassline (essentielle Bestandteile vom sog. „geilen Beat“), lässt sich der gebürtige Musikbibliotheksinsasse Multimo (häufig auch „DJ Multimo“) durchaus nicht die Butter vom Beat nehmen was das Kredenzen von geschmacklich stimmigen, aus einer fortlaufenden Abfolge synchron abgemischter Musikstücke bestehenden, sog. DJ-Sets (auch Mix, Podcast) angeht. Stilistisch auf einem ausholenden Schlenkerkurs rund um die gerade Kickdrum unterwegs („4 to the Floor“: House, Minimal u.ä.; in diesem speziellen Fall eher selten sog. „richtiger Techno“) hat er dieses Mal versucht, einen Treffer ganz weit unten zu landen: Musik mit ordentlich Bass und fein ziselierten Rhythmen, jedoch durch das Bestreben der afterhourigen Entspannung weniger überladen und eher atmosphärisch ausgerichtet.
 
Anwendungsempfehlung: Je nach persönlichen Vorlieben in einem Zustand der geistig-emotionalen Aufgeschlossenheit in leicht bis stark abgedunkelten Räumen mit oder ohne Tanzfläche zu genießen (im Sommer auch im Freien anwendbar).

to an artist’s satement. Since French dj/producer Damon Jee started his career in the early
1990’s, there’s never been a straight and rectilinear path to follow. An ungraspable and
deviant kind of open-mindedness underlines the contours of a trajectory stretching wide
across the spectrum of contemporary electronic music ; fact is evidence : his records have
been released on labels as diverse and versatile as Tora Tora, Definitive Recordings, Clouded
Vision, Startalk International, Days of Being Wild, Pour La Vie, Nein, Playpal… And,
symetrically, his dj acts and productions have never been clear-cut… never too dark… never
too bright… slurred, twisted and convoluted… subtly balancing his ubiquitous taste for indie
rock and synthetic music… bridging body and cerebral responses into an electronic
psychedelia… opening up a seamy and shady in-between…
Over the last 10 years, Damon Jee has become a key and recurrent actor of the electronic
scene. He has played in many clubs and festivals, in many cities and in many countries. He
