Artist’s Note: 
I am pleased to present you a new chapter on my Paralelo label.
I started this project at the beginning of the lockdown in 2020, and it brought me a lot of satisfaction and the opportunity to show more of my music.

In this 2023 I am presenting a return with some modifications in order to give it a more complementary concept to that of MindTrip.
The label will be focused solely on single EPs, and their covers and aesthetics are a more artistic version done on top of my own astrophotography, which you may already be used to seeing on MindTrip.

The first release is Behaviour. It´s also the first original track finished in my new studio. I hope you enjoy it 🙂 – Pfirter

Chris Flannigan - Dubplate (Volpe Remix) [PHTM012]

A bass rumble seems to rearrange your organs like a spiritual doctor, fast techno kicks and a funky as hell percussion line emerge - it's the lucky 13th release on Lisbon's Paraíso, this time by local mainstays @shcuro and @vilmusic - the first, label co-founder, the second a longtime friend and impeccable DJ with a range that runs from dubstep to the hardest strains of techno and beyond. 

The opener track ‘Rumble The Funk’ evolves with infectious stabs and cut-up vocal and our legs can't seem to stand still.

The groove continues on with the A2 'Recoil', a soulful, dubby, relentless ode to techno that feels authentic and purposeful. Emotional tones find their way in via a mysterious, melodic string, introduced in the breakdown.

Dubbed out motifs, delay + feedback strokes make a welcome return on the appropriately titled 'Chime Dub’ that opens the B side of the record: skippy rhythmic layers and a warm bassline complete the picture, string flourishes give us glimpses of radiant dancefloor revelations.

On the B2 the duo's opener track gets the remix treatment by another exciting duo: @blasha-allatt, who are the women behind the iconic queer techno raves Meat Free. They flip the original's melody into a rapid, dreamy affair, conveying an optimism that perfectly wraps up this solid record by continuing the celebration of collaborative work.

A1 ‘Relax’ sets the foundation with a mighty sub-base, rolling forward with effortless force. Chopped-up claps ricochet through the mix, while a funky, disembodied vocal repeats a single command: “relax”. 

Then comes ‘Chomp Chomp’, a denser offering in Wise’s sensorial arsenal. Layered with gritty textures, his signature percussion builds a soundscape that is both tactile and weightless, evoking a kinetic dream state where groove and space are in constant conversation. 

On the flip, ‘Cave’ plunges into murkier terrain. Swathed in fog and sinister atmospherics, it unfolds through an eerie blend of sci-fi surrealism and grounded physicality. Bleeps hover like distant signals, their sharpness softened by a cavernous, smothering embrace. It’s a study in tension—hypnotic and unsettling in equal measure. 

Closing the release is ‘Deep Under’, a track that embodies its name with subterranean mystique. The soundscape is rich with detail, an ecosystem of sonic fragments shifting beneath the surface. It’s immersive yet elusive, like catching glimpses of something just out of reach—a mirage that flickers between the tangible and the ethereal.

This is minimalism with intent, built for deep immersion. Less, here, is infinitely more.

Premiere: Rene Wise — Relax [MP03]

Maltese talent Human Safari debuts on Mutual Rytm with jazz-influenced techno EP, ‘Culture Shock’.

Human Safari is a key player in his native scene in Malta. He’s a resident at Glitch Festival, has played cult spots, and has a dynamic sound that brings jazz improvisation to techno, often featuring live instrumental elements. His music has found its place on top labels like R&S Records, and most of this new EP for SHDW’s Mutual Rytm imprint was produced during his Colombian summer tour last year - written and recorded amongst inspiring and unusual settings with just a laptop and headphones.

“This EP represents embracing new beginnings that, though might bring uncertainty and fear, the light always guides you to where you were always meant to be.” - Human Safari.

Opener ‘Mouse on Keys’ has been a key cut for the label boss across the past year, a unique track that peaks curiosity from dancers to DJs whenever it’s played. Its cantering techno rhythm is overlaid with delicate, heartfelt piano keys straight from a smoky jazz bar, making for a great counter to the physical drums. ‘Fragments’ is a deeply personal track dedicated to the artist’s late grandfather. It's a funky, soulful techno roller with blissed-out and sunny chords full of hope.

Next, ‘Classique’ gets more gritty with loopy drums and bass and glitchy percussion that fizzes with energy, while ‘The Labyrinth’ features piano motifs recorded in just one take. It brings a dark paranoia in the uneasy, off-grid keys which dart about with nervous energy over the booming low ends. There is just as much intensity and edge to the unresolved keys that loop over the raw drums on ‘A Rainy Day in Bogota’, before digital bonus cuts ‘Dorian’ and ‘Phantom’ bring more jazzed out techno madness with warped keys and expressive elements bringing great invention.
