Growing up on the small island of Barbados, Christopher “Infared” Drakes began his musical career over 15 years ago. He quickly became influenced by the sounds of the Caribbean, including soca, dancehall, and reggae that have influenced so much of today’s music. His ability to creatively combine these familiar genres with hip-hop, pop, and EDM distinguished him as a pioneer of the Caribbean mash up sound. 

Over the years, Infared made a name for himself as the resident DJ for a number of the islands favorite nightclubs and weekly events.  He also backed for some of the island’s most well known artists including Lil Rick, Peter Ram, and Hypa Sounds. In 2014 he was a finalist of the annual Stoli Most Original DJ Competition, growing his fan base and further legitimizing his presence in the Caribbean music scene. 

In 2015, Infared decided to take a leap of faith and leave his established career in Barbados to chase his dreams of international recognition in Miami, Florida. Since moving to Miami, Infared has showcased his talent at numerous local and national events including Lotus and Art by Lotus Miami alongside Barrie Hype and Roast Cruise NYC during the city’s West Indian celebrations over Labor Day Weekend. Most notably, in December of 2017, he was asked to be apart of Walshy Fire’s first ever Rum & Bass Block Party during the well know Art Basel week in Miami. Later that year, he was the official DJ for Carnival Live TV, as they became the first American guests invited to be apart of the Cuban Fire Festival in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.

Currently, Infared hosts a weekly online radio show on Smack Urban Radio, based in Los Angeles, CA, titled “Soca Prescription”. He travels home for the Crop Over festival every year to play at numerous events as well as for carnival mas bands including Kontact Barbados. He’s also been the featured DJ for Miami Carnival band Bajan Fuh Eva for the last four consecutive years. Since moving to Miami, Infared has also expanded his talents to photography, creating and building event photography company FAME Media, which has covered events from all over North America. Since the age of 17 music and performance as been a driving force behind everything he’s done and Infared continues to chase his passion and develop his many talents, all while re-building and re-branding himself along the way.
