Astraltopia is the third and final compilation in the Topia series, as well as the terminal release in the Astral Plane Recordings catalog. Made up of contributions from longtime APR artists and friends, Astraltopia traverses outgrowths of past label releases, novel sonic formulations and the infra-zones between and underneath extant club sounds. Accompanied by artwork from Sam Meier and mastering by Will Mitchell, the compilation follows 2012’s Heterotopia and 2015’s Psychotropia, both of which preceded the formal inauguration of Astral Plane Recordings. It is time to let go of your fear and doubts. You must learn to embrace the darkness of your soul, for it is a light beacon of hope for humanity. Your soul wants to show itself in its truest form, strength, perseverance, courage and determination of spirit. In this lifetime your soul needs to cleanse and open its feelings for katharsis.

With the double compilation “Infinite Summer: Ekstase & Fantasi”, katharsis celebrates the return of raves and concerts to society after a long period of pandemic shutdown. A magical summer has passed filled with an incredible pallet of emotional material, ready to be expressed. Therefore, we encouraged a collection of artists we adore to channel their imagination of the greatest way to conclude an endless summer night into a piece of music.

This resulted in a grand assemblage of harmonious manifestations, naturally splitting into two divisions with opposing focuses. On the first part of the duology “Ekstase” coming out on September 20th, we are presented with fourteen tracks for the dancefloor in an array of different styles, ranging everywhere from energetic morning vibes on the junglish opener “Origin, Gate's Dawn” by Yem Gel to hardcore sensations on Mang’s trap-infused roller “Based Halo”.

Born In Flamez double single ‘Play’ presents a ferocious claim for dissent bodies in the form of two relentlessly queer anthems. Known for their experimental and enigmatic approach on identity expression, with ‘Play’, Born In Flamez delivers an uncompromisingly sensual revision of a crunk classic and a banging collaboration with the cross-border performance artist Muxxxe.

Originally conceived as the soundtrack for a multidisciplinary performance involving physical expression, censorship, transformation and plastic waste, ‘This is what my body says’ depicts a call for body liberation upon the decline of the world, the collaboration with the masked artist from Tijuana ‘Muxxxe’ bounds together a feeling of distinctive tenacity that comes along with queer emancipation.

With xenomorphic atmospheres, heavy mechanic percussions and alienish echoes the EP constrains the most redemptive side of Born In Flamez in the form of two unapologetic and futuristic rap pieces.

Racine uses sound to transcend the contemporary hellscape. Far from indulging in purely hedonistic escapism or nihilistic detachment, the celebrated Canadian producer confronts difficult emotions head-on, embracing tension and turbulence. Each release reformulates uncertainty into haunted soundscapes bristling with detail, weaving fractured samples, mutant melodies and glacial electronics into a hyper-real reflection of modern living. New two-track single Delirium focuses those same future-seeking sonics into Racine’s most direct – not to mention surprising – work to date.

Side A coalesces the producer’s amorphous electronics into a crystalline dancefloor workout. Soaring vocals clipped from a New Age radio broadcast glide atop ruffneck drums, with noctilucent synth pads and fizzing ambience seeping in through the cracks. Racine’s signature sense of unease and melancholy is still very much present, though here lurking in the track’s low-end and on the periphery; an overwhelming endorphin rush threatening to tip into amphetamine anxiety at any moment. Side B explodes outwards from that same sound palette, dancefloor hooks atomised into formless textures, eschewing melody and rhythm as it reaches toward even more ecstatic heights.

Delirium provides an exhilarating expansion of Racine’s soundworld, demonstrating his prowess as a producer even while moving into new contexts, and speaking to a distinct need for ecstatic release and transcendence.
