Precious Metals Vol.1 is the inaugural compilation from Precious Metals, a label, radio show, and club night.

Since its debut as a radio show on London’s NTS in 2012, Precious Metals has been committed to showcasing  the outer reaches of experimental club music, both locally and globally. Under the direction of DJ and producer Endgame—emerging from South London’s pioneering club collectives Bala Club and Endless. The platform has been focused on capturing the organic cross-pollination of sounds from the inner-city and the sublime chaos of the present moment.

In 2020, Precious Metals evolved into a full-fledged label, seeking to unearth artists that are visionaries on their own terms, eschewing conventional genre limitations. Representing an international roster of uncompromising, iconoclastic artists both established and emerging. Bringing an emotionally charged vulnerability to club culture.

The compilation encapsulates this ethos, and ambition, the culmination of the past 12 years of endeavour. Featuring some of the legends and emerging stars of electronic music.

United in compassion and solidarity for the Palestinian cause and its ongoing humanitarian crisis, all proceeds from the album will be donated to support efforts toward humanitarian aid in Gaza, and Palestinian emancipation.

Merlin Modulaw's latest project, ‚Lost & Found‘, is a EP that spans six carefully crafted tracks, pushing the boundaries of contemporary club music with a blend of genres and textures. The release highlights Modulaw’s unique production style, combining slower grooves, raw club sounds, and sharp, metallic textures to create a sound both gritty and immersive. Among the standout features of the EP are a powerful collaboration with Estoc and innovative remixes by genre-blending artists Manuka Honey and Xzavier Stone, each adding their distinct touch to the project.

AKA HEX is a brand new collaboration between Aïsha Devi and Slikback.

Devi has always used her music to look outward, beyond the confines of club music and the avant garde towards a space that's less predictable and far more mysterious. She was born in Switzerland with Nepali Indigenous heritage, and her transversal identity has helped her navigate the underground as not just a producer and vocalist, but as a curator. Co-founding the Danse Noire imprint in 2013, she used that platform to launch her breakout EP 'Hakken Dub / Throat Dub', following it up with the labyrinthine 'Of Matter and Spirit' album in 2015. Devi's interest in sonic alchemy and multi-dimensional expression was further developed on 2018's 'DNA Feelings', coming to an overflowing head with last year's enigmatic 'Death Is Home', which featured a collaboration with none other than Slikback.

Born and raised in Nairobi, Slikback is one of the world's most adventurous producers, taking elements from the wide spectrum of club, noise, ambient and rap musics and forming them into a psychedelic lattice of high intensity sounds and emotions. He's spent
the last few years prolifically contributing to his canon via his Bandcamp stream, this year compiling the highlights into the frenetic double-LP 'SLIKBACK' – 22 tracks of future-facing, soundsystem-ready experimental club sounds that define his journey so far.

Together, they synthesize their artistry as AKA HEX, welding kinetic, bass-heavy rhythms to zig-zagging, sci-fi tinged soundscapes and mutant vocals. It's Devi's most dancefloor-focused material in years, and Slikback's most alien to date, bridging the chasm between avant-pop, experimental club and hallucinogenic ambience.

For his sixth 96 Back LP, Evan Majumdar-Swift found himself writing “a long form eulogy” to his years living in Manchester while preparing for an imminent move to London. Initially intended as a series of technical exercises, which saw the artist radically stripping back his established production setup, over the last two years tender, exit gradually took on the form of an emotional landscape, mapped in transit between two cities. “The overarching concept of the record is cycles, recognising them, loving them, and tearing yourself away from them,” he says. Heard together, the project takes on the pace and cadence of a passionate conversation with a loved one.

dru-1’s “preshuh” was composed in the artist’s home of Trinidad during Carnival of 2024. Reflecting on the experiences and influences that shaped the record, UK-based artist Drew Lovett recalls inviting friends to stay with their family during the festivities, experiencing overproof rum, pan bands, card games, and doubles. Community and a celebration of sociality seem to shimmer through the EP’s bass-ridden tracks, evident not-least in the prominent sound bites and vocals recorded on-site from those close to the artist during the Carnival.

The project unfolds across six tracks, each composition draped in FM synthesis and layered over gritty basslines. “preshuh” builds upon the
vision realized in the artist’s debut project, a 4-track EP released on Why Be’s Yegorka in 2024. This record punches with more technical precision, making a mature statement that feels cohesive and intentional, while retaining its playful essence. Lovett collaborates with Marta Rosa on percussion for the final three tracks—“maco queen,” “palance,” and “a4s.”

Despite its moody basslines and clear roots in the UK club scene and Hard Drum, Lovett’s EP is infused with a spirit of optimism and revelry. The EP opens with echoes of “toma!” and other indistinct cries, as timbale taps gradually build alongside jerky basslines in “diastema.” The subsequent track “corbeaux,” takes a more atmospheric approach, leaning further into lush melody progressions. Breath-like chirps fade in and out of the mix, allowing different melodic and percussive elements to shine at various moments. “Libido” calls the listeners to commune on the dancefloor, led by a steady four-on-the- floor rhythm. The hypnotic chant, “We come together,” repeats with quiet assurance, woven through a backdrop of filtered basslines and dissonance. Crunchy, sputtering synths wind in and out of the soundscape, teasing a sense of chaos and rapture, grounded by the steady rhythm beneath. In “maco queen,” the record seems to reach a point of climax; jittering bass sounds overtake the atmosphere immediately. “Hey!” and “Ha!” shout over the flurries, punctuating the frenzy, while intricate low-end patterns and hand drums introduce moments of organic warmth. Percussive taps and clinks imagine an impromptu gathering of people jamming together. Here, Lovett seems to call us to let loose, to shout, to dance, to revel in excitement. The fifth track, “palance” unfolds over a steady four-on-the-floor rhythm, with intertwining synth lines that emerge and recede unpredictably, engaging in a dynamic interplay akin to an animated conversation among close friends. The EP concludes with “a4s,” a vibrant, infused with Soca and Dembow breaks track that brings key elements from earlier songs—vocals, claps, and heavy basslines—crafting a dynamic yet cohesive finale.

Experienced in full, Lovett’s EP is a call to togetherness—a sonic invitation to gather, move, and celebrate without restraint. Infused with the frenetic energy of the carnival where it was conceived, the project unapologetically embraces the dancefloor, urging bodies into motion, and spirits into communion. Beneath its pulsating rhythms lies
a deeper longing—not just for revelry, but for connection. In a world still relearning the rhythms of closeness, it asks: How do we rebuild the spaces where joy and community once thrived?

"Everything I do comes from romance, if I can't be romantic, then I won't make music anymore. "GG summarized in a post when "Punk Karaoke" was released.

Throughout the entire "動亂星 Stars of Turmoil EP", the Gabber / Hardcore influence cannot be erased, but this is already the result of GG's efforts to suppress this influence to the minimum. The sensory stimuli pursued at the DJ set were not all brought into his personal release. "動亂星 Stars of Turmoil EP" is concerned with what is happening now, not the cyberpunk ideas, the fantasy of the stars and the sea, nor is it a thing of the past.

Each track has a clear expression goal: "榮耀 Glory" uses a lofty melody to tells about GG's love for certain people and things, not only for the ambition he is putting into practice, but also for those who work as hard as he but People who have not yet made a name for themselves; "犬子來拜 Adoration of Sons" expresses his dissatisfaction with the current situation around him and unilateral provocations against some rogues in a restless voice; "動亂星 Stars of Turmoil" uses a lot of rhythmic patterns of traditional Chinese lion dance, and his emotional foundation is built on Encourage the FunctionLab team and the entire Hangzhou music scene; "香港 Sweet Harbour" focuses on the expectation of love between person to person, with the characterization of delicate melody as the lead.

"My temper is still very strong, but now I feel that fighting with music is a more effective and smarter way." GG sees this EP as a successful self-positioning rescue and a safer emotional release. If you want to make a distinction between his musical career, maybe style and technology are not the most important boundaries, and the change of mindset is the real watershed. Although in music, he has reconciled with it, but in his life, the rebellious attitude could not be changed. Don't roar lyrics is only a partial concession, and the music still carries his sharp opinions, those passionate opinions.

"Let those assholes hear the aggressiveness in my heart and the ambition of FunctionLab and I, and let those who are smug and arrogant about their small achievements hear, there must be a winner or loser one day. "In addition, more is unruly and open love. This is the fate of GG Lobster, and it's what he is. Those extravagant lyrics that don't care are now internalized in his heart, leading him and guiding him.

"I hope you can hug your companions after listening, especially those who are still with you while doing things like moth fluttering fire with you." This is the most sincere, the most meaningful suggestions from GG Lobster about this EP.
