For Tapes 016, we welcome Infinite Monkey Theorem (@infinite-monkey-theorem) to the none/such family. Infinite Monkey Theorem is a new music project from New York that was formed during the height of the pandemic lockdown. As the experience of the nightclub had shifted from packed dance floors to small gatherings in intimate spaces, Infinite Monkey Theorem began to explore the construction of music where the idea of the club is all but a distant memory. In this Tapes X mix for none/such, they’ve delivered a musical narrative of their influences, which include jazz, shoegaze, IDM, and unconventional time signatures.

Keep your eyes peeled for a release later this month.

The duo from New York put together two hours of music giving the listener some insight into their broad musical influences and remarkable taste.  "Expect absolutely funky and danceable grooves, deconstructed breaks and club rhythms, and above all, plenty of surprises from this innovative and boundary-pushing mix."

none/such’s next charity compilation is an effort to raise money for Refugees4Refugees, an independent community network of refugee activists who fight for the protection of their human rights, equality, freedom, and dignity. Standing united against social exclusion in order to contest cultures of isolation, racism, and discrimination, R4R organizes grassroots resistance and campaigns against the oppression of refugee communities in Germany and Europe enabling freedom of movement for the most marginalized. The compilation is free, but all proceeds will go directly to the Refugees4Refugees network.

It was a pleasure to be back on @noodsradio again. This mix starts off with illbient heavy-hitter Fallen Angels from Mentol Nomad's 2001 LP "Mentallica and its Inhabitants" on WordSound. Winding through old and new school trip-hop, along with some familiar Bristolian downtechno, the percussions go double-time, starting with Earl Grey's IDM/jungle track, French Exit. Dark wave and post-punk make an appearance with the likes of Viva Erotica and Mount Kimbie. The mix ends with some jazzy breaks and dub music, as per IMT style. This was one of our favorite sets yet. Hope you all enjoy it as much as we did making it.

Brooklyn duo Infinite Monkey Theorem's output matches electronic and instrumental influences to craft music aimed at the dancefloor. There's obvious doffs of the cap to IDM, breakbeat and leftfield club sounds but also elements of shoegaze, free jazz and soundsystem music bubbling up under the surface.

For their new release, ChimpGPT, the pair share five tracks of off-kilter club cuts laced with guitars and hypnotic bass lines. And it's all for a great cause too - they're donating all proceeds from the release to UN Women, the UN organisation who do important work to protect women's rights and end violence against women across the world.
