False Prophets

Currently seeking to sign to a label that I can respect, that represents the real hip hop (knowledge, wisdom, understanding)...

Hip hop has been a major part of my life ever since I was in high school, inspired by when my best friend introduced me to hip hop and such acts as KRS-ONE, De La Soul, Wu-Tang, Rakim, Gangstarr, A Tribe Called Quest, Nas, The Roots, Killah Priest, The Fugees, and Jeru the Damaja, to name a few. Some off my other friends around the same time introduced me to one of the early Ensoniq sampling workstations/keyboards, and to rhyming and ciphers. I quickly became a student and fan of the art, eventually leading to a dream of making an album for the all the right reasons- knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. Since then, a lot has changed. Seeing the world for what it really is only inspires me more, affirms the heart of my lyrics even more, and gives me even more voice to reason.

The album’s name will be:
Mind over Matter

     
   Over the years, thousands of rhymes and ciphers later, my skills grew. My rhyme skills are now, in many circles, legendary. Yet, I am still just a young Jedi, just as eager to grow and learn as I was when I started out, but now understanding that with false prophets everywhere, every one of us has the responsibility to be students and teachers. We must be careful though. As Malcolm X said, “If you're not careful, the newspapers (I guess we can now include television, cable, the internet, and our English teachers) will have you hating the people who are oppressed, and loving the people who are doing the oppressing." Wicked, to me, is anything that deprives anyone from the pursuit of life, liberty, and happiness, that hates, that attempts to trick, that does not care, that prophesizes any falsehood to the masses for the gain of the few, that which has no soul and wants to take the souls of others. Organized religion (official and “unofficial”), for the most part, does this. Religion hides under many and all disguises, taking no prisoner. Unfortunately, such wicked essence is often (but not always) disguised behind positions of power in entertainment, media, law, literature, music, culture and rhetoric. False prophets. Only through our individual and combined spiritual journeys can and will the low and high tides of destruction, propoganda, discrimination, and bad influence stop. Only then can we stop poverty, hunger, genocide, and war. Only then will all of our bloodlines reach their highest destinies, where all human being live in peace, harmony, and with the knowledge of the infinitebeyond.
