An important precursor to the likes of Torque - most of the tracks here are from Nico, Trace & Ed Rush, with Doc Scott, Cronic Crew (Krust), The Limit (Grooverider) & Raw Deal/Elementz of Noise along for the ride. Whether or not you know this LP I strongly recommend you stop whatever you're doing and get stuck in. EZ.

Artist Spotlight: Tashphrodisiac

Stlye: Minimal & Dark Drum and Bass

Using her musical knowledge and tunes collected over years of a passion for bass music, you can count on Tashphrodisiac to bring you a special selection in her mixes.
Hailing from southwest UK and spending a long time in Melbourne where she first learnt how to mix, she finds her groove with deep, dark, techy drum & bass, uk garage, bassline, 140 and occasionally psychedelic techno.
Part of the southwest/london based collective Music From The Mothership you can expect her to be bringing either her dark rolling dnb, or some bouncy but filthy UKG/140 for multi genre events.
Since deciding to get serious in 2023 she has supported the likes T>I, Aries, Nightshift, Kleu, Audiomission, Ed Solo, Phibes, Oko, Benny Page, Euphonique & Crossy at events. She has played at Boomtown and Get On festival as well as some other small festivals and her own End Of Summer Sunday Session events held in her hometown of Frome, Somerset.

Expect some dark and moody basslines with techy drums, some familiar bars from favourite UK MCs in the scene and don’t be surprised if you encounter some proper filth.

And here's the VIP version I've been experimenting with!

For this one, I swapped out the original sub for a heavier, growlier bassline and tightened up the drums to give it a bit more punch on the dancefloor. It's a darker, deeper take on the original idea.

This is also a WIP VIP, so I'm still tweaking things. The big question is: which direction do you prefer?

Aaron Jay is head of A&R and owns Influence Records. 

Aaron started DJing in 1997. Between 2001-2003 Aaron was invited on a regular basis to warm up the bar at Bryan G's weekly night Movement which led him to be noticed by the scenes major players. 

2003-2011 Aaron Jay was made resident at Fabio's legendary night Swerve, playing every month to the dub hungry punters who like their rhythms soulful and funky. 

To support this Aaron joined premier DJ agency Groove Connection, joining an A-List roster that included Drum and Bass Pioneers Fabio and Grooverider. 

Known for playing Detroit Techno, Dub, Jazz, Rare Groove and deep inspired Drum and Bass, he has also gone on to perform at such legendary venues as Fabric, The END, CABLE, Heaven, Brixton O2 Arena as well as playing abroad. 

In 2008 Aaron set up Influence Records - supporting artists such as; Easy and Geeks, Commix, Jay Dubz, Mr Joseph, Lynx, Phil Tangent, CPH, A-Audio, Conrad Subs, Seba, L-Side, Hobzee and Zyon Base, HLZ, Dave Owen, Sergio Manifesto, Random Movement, Duoscience, Flaco, Bungle, Zero T, Conrad Subs, KMTR, Soul Intent, Brother, ICR, Kjell, Bal, Data, Sinistarr, Undefined, Atom, RawQ plus many others. 

Influence reflects his personal style, drawing upon deeper and leftfield flavours within the genre. Aaron Jay also teamed up in the studio with Lynx (Hospital Records, Creative Source, Soul:r, Detail) and has released two singles on Doc Scott's 31 Records.
