Duet for Theremin and Lap Steel return in 2021 with a new album entitled “ ’Oumuamua” that definitely provides homage to its name.  

ʻOumuamua is the first known interstellar object detected passing through our Solar System, observed in late 2017. It’s a Hawaiian term for “a messenger from afar, arriving first.” Following last year’s well-received album “Halocline”, the ten tracks (90+ minutes) of “ ‘Oumuamua” are the perfect continuation.  Its ethereal ambience is very solid and thick and is the perfect soundtrack for attempting to view the objects in the night sky that most of the tracks are named after. 
 

                “Vesta”, the single, has an immense vastness to it in which listeners can immerse themselves. The Theremin and Lap Steel weave a tapestry of sound that sonically is the perfect soundtrack for viewing images of the cosmos.

Duet For Theremin And Lap Steel - Vesta

As the pandemic set in, Minneapolis musicians Travis Kuhlman (formerly of Buildings and currently of DUG) and Drew Haddon (also of High Marks, Warning Light) hatched the plan to record some songs in isolation from one another. With Travis recording drums live in Space Sixty-Eight and Drew producing from his new studio the Iron Spiral, a set of songs evolved throughout the summer of 2020. The experimental duo built each track from a rhythm perspective, trying to fuse the dark menace of absence with the kinetic energy of human collaboration. Their debut album Data Reject is the results, a chaotic and stark exploration of abstract rock and industrial music.

Burnt Resin is the lead off single from Data Reject which is the debut album by Minneapolis, MN experimental industrial duo Yellow Bulb. Recorded by the duo while isolated from themselves, the album showcases a spectrum of rhythmic, experimental sounds across the ten tracks. Fuzzy circuitry and dissonant guitars comingle with the heavy drum stomp, creating abstract heavy rock music with a dark dubby production. Analogue synths and detuned samples are given equal space with the guitars and bass, giving the hybrid sounds a hazy unique energy. Heavier, more doom-laden material like "Henry & Son" and "Ballad ov thee Exploding Head" sit comfortably alongside more industrial-electronic work like "Maximal Nothing" and "A Season of Little Miseries."

The album features collaborations with percussionist Jake Cregger (Multicult) and vocalist Chris Besinger (STNNNG), and is the product of eight intense months in the life of a new band. Data Reject explores the power of the idea, and the cost of rejecting it over the course of its forty minutes.

Greg Keller Music, Vol. 1 is the first anthology of music that Greg Keller has created to be released under his name.

Floating is the first single from Greg Keller Music, Vol. 1.  

Greg’s productions have been used by MTV, Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman, Monster), Sirius XM, and SYFY Network. He draws on inspiration from television, nature, ambient sounds, walking and music software. Greg also produces dance music under the alias Mister Sweatband which has been released internationally on labels like Diynamic Music in Germany. He was also half of the synth pop duo La Chansons.

Greg started producing music under his name when making music for a well known meditation podcast. He wanted a format to make electronic music without the structural constraints of pop or dance music in which he could explore all the sounds he had collected over the years. From that point, he started creating music that focused on space and atmosphere. Today Greg lives in Marietta, GA with his wife and son.

Emerging from the new crop of US underground acts updating the American Deathrock + UK Post Punk aesthetic. Atlanta based Entertainment is raw and bleak. Channeling the best parts of early 80s goth from a thousand years away. They’ve often been described as a perfect amalgamation of the sum of their influences, “the sound of death on vinyl, wrapped in layers of spaced-out dub, post punk shards, tinny synths, and cavernous silence.” - PostPunk.com

Horror Part 1 is the new EP, following the release of the singles “Maggot Church” (Fall 2020) and “Voyeur” Spring (2021). It features updated versions these 2 singles and 2 new tracks, bringing a lean but eviscerating stark darkness, seeped in glammed up desperation and fractured grooves. Horror Part 1 is Entertainment’s first definitive statement since their genre defying and “ahead-of-it’s-time” debut album Gender (2009). The Ep sees the band re-emerge from a decade of consistent touring, fractured relationships, loss, and line-up shifts as if no time has passed, to deal with themes of gender identity, obsession, desire, and existential dread through the lens of 80’s VHS Horror, fetishized romanticism, and romantic fetishism.

Horror Part 1 was co-mixed by the band and Tom Ashton (of legendary Leeds, UK band March Violets), and mastered by Matt McJunkins (The Beta Band, Poppy, Puscifer,), the cover is designed with a font treatment by NY fine artist Matthew Brannon.

Inner Spaces sees Warning Light (D Haddon) return with a new synthesizer based set after Latent Futurists’ guitar/bass focused sound the year previous. Started in Minneapolis but finished during a whirlwind of activity in a temporary studio at the foothills of the Tualatin range, Inner Spaces is the most succinct Warning Light album to date. An album that celebrates the pleasures of living in a small town (“Posti y Acquedotto” and “Galerion Gardens”) and staying home with the pets (“Most Curious of the Cats” and “Pouty Brown Eyes”), Inner Spaces also sees D Haddon employing playful arrangements and dynamic beatwork to populate his cinematic collection of dubby electro sounds.

Sole member/multi-instrumentalist D Haddon currently lives and produces music in Forest Grove Oregon after a move last summer from Minneapolis. Haddon has released a series of albums exploring minimalist, loop oriented music over the years under the moniker Warning Light; his more recent work has leaned towards shorter, more dense productions. This past year has seen the release of his co-production work on two Yellow Bulb. albums (on Stickfigure and Industrial Coast respectively), Stranded’s debut album Midnight Sun on Double Phantom, and High Marks’ most recent album Corrosion is the Monument on Phage Tapes.

"Klang" is the first single from Hexcrusher's new album Slime's Detective.

Hexcrusher is the EDM project of Chris Monica (aka Yatagarasu). After a decade of producing distorted, aggressive Nintendo music, Chris shifted focuses and became a professional wrestler. The aggression of Yatagarasu has been sucked into wrestling leaving Hexcrusher with pleading, thoughtful, and catchy post-chiptune. Hexcrusher peddles the same raw waveforms and chirpy video game sounds heard in the chiptune scene, layering them into pop songs that bounce and wash out with translucent slime. Slime's Detective celebrates and explores slime in all its forms. This is slime music, garbage music; songs are written using data-entry with a studio setup valued at less than $100. This is no-budget guerilla science using free breakbeats, Castlevania samples and stock digital choir sounds to communicate with extraterrestrials.

Stable Enabler is the debut single from Warning Light's new album Latent Futurists.

Latent Futurists is the first proper Warning Light album since the motorik stomp of 2017’s Luxury Through Repetition, with sole member D Haddon having moved to Minneapolis and establishing the Iron Spiral Studio in the interim. With guitars coming to the forefront, Latent Futurists uses the electro-looping foundation Haddon has built on previous releases to craft a more psychedelic, shoegaze-indebted set. Synths and rhythm boxes now co-exist with Haddon’s freeform fuzzy guitarwork, coalescing into a basement daydream of modernist electro krautrock, consistently hypnotic and at moments darkly cinematic.  A rhythmic album as well, Latent Futurists offers one of the most dynamic and concise sets in Warning Light’s diverse catalogue. 

Haddon offers “Latent Futurists is easily the most unexpected (to myself) Warning Light music I’ve made since Eternity Drones, the sessions really came together in an organic way when I was finishing my work on the debut Yellow Bulb. album. I had been playing guitar seriously for the first time in a couple years; when you have Quarantine hours, you have plenty of time for “cosmic accidents.” The title is a tip of the hat to all of my friends who have kept pushing their art into the future this year for the sheer passion of doing it. Despite all the dark events of 2020, it meant the world to me to see my friends still making the art they believe in.“
