En este primer capítulo de Hilos del Agua, conversamos con académicos miembros de pueblos indígenas y étnicos de Asia y América Latina expertos en estudios legales y en ciencias humanas. Teniendo en cuenta su condición de personas ubicadas en el intermedio, conocedores de los marcos internacionales, pero también de las realidades y formas de vida comunitarias, preguntamos a nuestros invitados sobre sus experiencias en el mundo académicos y sobre sus diversas visiones en torno al agua y al derecho.
 
Contamos con la participación de Aura Cumes, antropóloga y pensadora del pueblo Katchiquel de Guatemala; Abadio Green, lingüista, y etno-educador del pueblo Gunadule de la frontera entre Colombia y Panamá; Pedro Garzón, abogado, y autoridad tradicional del pueblo indígena Chinaneco de México; Lisneider Hinestroza, abogada, docente e investigadora del pueblo afrocolombiano del Chocó, Colombia; Valmaine Toike, abogada y profesora del pueblo Maorí de Nueva Zelanda y, finalmente, Jonathan Liljeblad docente y consultor originario del pueblo Pa-o en Myanmar

Académicos indigenas: tejiendo saberes

In the first chapter of Weaving Waters, we talk to academics from indigenous and ethnic peoples in Asia and Latin America who are experts in legal studies and human sciences. Taking into account their status as people located in between, as experts in international frameworks but also in the realities and ways of community life, we asked our guests about their experiences in the academic world and about their diverse views on water and law.
We had the participation of Aura Cumes, anthropologist and thinker of the Katchiquel people of Guatemala; Abadio Green, linguist and ethno-educator of the Gunadule people of the Colombia-Panama border; Pedro Garzón, lawyer and traditional authority of the Chinaneco indigenous people of Mexico; Lisneider Hinestroza, lawyer, teacher and researcher of the Afro-Colombian people of Chocó, Colombia; Valmaine Toki, lawyer and teacher of the Maori people of New Zealand; and finally, Jonathan Liljeblad, teacher and consultant of the Pa-o people in Myanmar.

Indigenous scholars: weaving wisdoms

(EN) RIVERS (2019-2025) is a research project that aims to produce ground-breaking knowledge, from an empirical, interdisciplinary and dialoguing perspective, about the contentions and challenges intrinsic to reconceptualising human rights with different ways of understanding and relating to water. The project is funded by the European Research Council (ERC), coordinated by Lieselotte Viaene and hosted in the Department of Social Sciences, at Carlos III University of Madrid.

(ES) RIVERS (2019-2025) es un proyecto de investigación que tiene como objetivo producir conocimiento innovador, desde una perspectiva empírica, interdisciplinaria y dialogante, sobre los desafíos y polémicas intrínsecas a la reconceptualización de los derechos humanos con diferentes formas de entender y relacionarse con el agua. El proyecto está financiado por el Consejo Europeo de Investigación (ERC), coordinado por Lieselotte Viaene, y acogido por el Departamento de Ciencias Sociales de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
