This is the second single from the latest album "Kaleidoscope", written by MATTHIAS VOGT produced by AXEL REINEMER (JAZZANOVA). Video produced by german director CASPAR ARNHOLD.

"At first glance" introduces new [re:jazz] vocalist Mediha. its not done on purpose, but this song - written by Matthias Vogt - is dealing with a first impression, it is about being underrated at first sight. The subtle instrumental with all its fragile structures underlining this mood. Medihas voice, an upright bass, wurlitzer, drums, congas and a jazz guitar - a plain and simple instrumentation and arrangement. A beautiful melody. this is AT FIRST GLANCE.

The release is accomponied by a video from director Caspar Arnhold. Caspar earned money as assistant and editorial photographer during school days. He studied acting & theatre in London  After several years as an actor Caspar has directed, photographed and produced numerous short and feature films, interactive projects, commercials and coporate videos since 2005. Very happy to have Opolopo with his funk driven disco remix contribution on board for this release. A true "future" classic. Opolopo is Yoruban for "plenty", a word that best exemplifies the diversity of this production wizard’s musical voyage. Opolopo is the man of the hour with his outstanding remix for Grammy nominated vocalist Gregory Porter "1960 What" an many other remixes and collaborations for The Sunburst Band, Mario Biondi, Azymuth, Dazz Band, Mr. V, and Lanu (The Bamboos) in the last years.

[re:jazz] - At First Glance Feat. Mediha (Opolopo Remix)

Amsterdam-based neo-classical producer Joram Feitsma follows with his version of "Afraid Of The Future." Feitsma drew attention in 2021 with his beautiful album "Flux" on Frank Wiedemann's (Ame) label Bigamo. Joram Feitsma's take is that of a classical pianist - sound-wise we almost crawl into the piano, the piano hammers can be heard almost as loud as the muted piano - he accompanies the political messages of the piece like a singer, working with paragraphs and pauses, thus putting his musical accompaniment in the background and the expressiveness of the interview voices purposefully in focus. This gives the message of the title and the lyrics a special radiance.

Matthias makes a clear political statement that exists not in competition but in symbiosis with his well-placed notes and stylishly experimental and pronouncedly eclectic electronica jazz sound. Of course, this album was conceived and recorded long before the current crisis - but has not lost any of its topicality (even if it does not refer specifically to the war in Ukraine) due to the war in Europe - but expresses the feeling of an entire generation. So here is a first foretaste.

DUSTY who has founded the young and succsesful Jazz & Milk label in Munich about three years ago delivers a real „jazznotjazz“ freestyle version of Rita, like his exotic DJ sets that electrify with ambitious jazz melodies and heavy percussive beats. His mix is one of the highlights to the ELECTRIFIED album from [re:jazz] as it shows how one can combine both worlds electronic and real jazz in one tune without any compromisses and both works perfectly together

The album I.o.T by A CORAL ROOM (where this title is taken from) will be released as limited Vinyl (300 copies) in a Gatefold sleeve and in the digtal format only. Digital release will be available as 24BIT/48KHZ DL in selected download stores. A CORAL ROOM - a new electronic improvised project by Matthias Vogt (Keys & FX), Oliver Leicht (Electric Reeds), and Oli Rubow (Dub Drums) arent just known within avant-garde circles, they´ve reached wider audiences in various constellations. They´ve played leading roles as musicians with groups such as "The Fantastic Four" and "DePhazz" (Rubow), contributed to "[re:jazz]" and productions in the electronic field (Motorcitysoul) and as DJ (Vogt), and played as a member of the "HR-Bigband Ensemble" (Leicht) – and now all three are part of the newly formed collaborative project, A CORAL ROOM. It´s about all about free improvisation, not a formal composition and production“. The Frankfurt-based trio combines the musical spontaneity of jazz with electronic aesthetics and the ‘loop thinking’ found in modern club music.

After last years „20+years in jazznotjazz“ label anniversary release with 14 new & unreleased titles we continue with a series of remixes to this release in the next month.

With „A Chance for Peace“ the one and only cover-version (Lonnie Liston Smith) on the anniversary release, recorded by Mop Mop with vocals by Sara Sayed (from Rime), this release pays tribute and respect to the roots and completes the picture of INFRACom!...and by the way it comes with a message we want to underline - even so the original is back from 1975, it seems to be highly current these days again. ...give peace a chance and see what happens....!!!!

We are very happy and proud that the first remix is delivered by none less than DJ Smash who closes the circle somehow, as the term „jazznotjazz“, which is used for the anniversary release is originally from DJ Smash (Hunter) from NY who released a 12“ on his own labels New Breed and Eightball in the beginning of the nineties under this moniker.
This 12“ (Flip & Trip), a hybrid of jazz and heavy electronic broken beats influenced Jan & Namé to that extend that it became the key vinyl by the time in their dj sets. Eventually they overtook the name and defined it as the motto for their future work.

The remix itself takes the tune to the dancefloor with a positive 80ties tribute vibe of funk and disco on a 4 to floor beat.


MOP MOP - A Chance For Peace (DJ Smash Remix)EDIT

„Here´s Us“ is the first single release from Nektas second album „Storybook“ due to be released in autumn 2009. For the second time Valique from Moscow did a Remix for INFRACom!.
His  version turns out to be more dance floor compatible then the original.
While the main mix adds some nostalgic vinyl scratches at the beginning of the tune and builds up with uplifting broken beats for the floor, the „dark jazz dub“ insert the 4/4 bass drum and reduces the vocals.

The label INFRACom! was founded by Name Leonhard-Vaughn (†) and Jan Hagenkötter in 1992. In the last decade INFRACom! has released over 100 records. At home in Frankfurt am Main, the financial capital and skyscraper city of Germany, Namé Leonhard Vaughn and Jan Hagenkötter started their mutual relationship as a soundsystem in late eighties and beginning of the nineties, way before Berlin discovered the art of raving.
 
The Frankfurt of the time was very musically eclectic. You’d meet the same crew of people whether you were at a techno, hip-hop, or reggae party exactly the right soil to found a label that was open-minded in spirit and taste. A label dedicated to the artist and not to one sole style. Staying true to this vision these two guys have contributed greatly to the forging of a scene that crosses all borders musically, geographically and racially.
