I first wrote The Range about 2 years ago originally, and it has been through at least 4 different iterations. It started at 120bpm, but I ended up at 130. It felt better this way. The original song minus the vox was basically a full jam off my modular synth rig.

I love working this way when it works.

There is a lot of talk on social media these days about the importance of releasing music quickly, and not overthinking the production and/or mix. I understand where this sentiment comes from. We live in a fast-paced, algo-driven world. However, this song wouldn’t have been half of what it became if I had rushed it. That’s how I feel about most of my music.

Creating art is often an iterative process, and I fully embrace that. I simply do not see the point in putting anything out that I wouldn’t still be just as proud of 10-20 years later. Some songs happen quickly. Some songs happen slowly. This one happened slowly.

I don’t make the rules.

Hyperloop is the first release on my new label, Untouchables.  This is just a taste of what's to come on this outlet I created for releasing my more experimental material.

All of the synth sounds in this song were conceived entirely using my analog modular synth rig, and I wrote it with the specific intent of performing it live.
