Night Landed is based on a poem entitled "Echo" by the Iranian contemporary poet, Sohrab Sepehri. The translation of "Echo" is as follows:
“Upon the river of terror
I am a trembling leaf…
I passed beyond the sounds,
I abandoned the light…
The stars
Shivered in my cold veins,
The earth throbbed,
The air moved in waves…
I heard the dark music of your body…
I am the echo of your solitude,
The echo of your darkness,
You heard my silence.
Like a breeze, I will arise beyond me,
I will open the doors,
I will pass in the eternal night.
You opened your eyes,
Night landed in me.

Pietà (piano trio)

Zvon /zʋôn/ means “bell” in some Slavic languages or "bell sound" in Russian. Whereas European bells produce tuned intervals, Russian bells produces an overlay of different non tempered frequencies with the strongest ones being nearby intervals of 9th and seconds. Harmonies in this piece are based on the spectrals of the most famous Russian Bells from Pskov, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Yaroslavl; a total of nine bells with the oldest originating in 1547 (Pskov) and the youngest — XIX-XX century Moscow. Rhythms are inspired by traditional patterns of orthodox bell ringing.
