‘Techno three ways’ is the order of the day from Irish newcomer Richie Corrigan and his accomplice Jacob B, twisting the genre in a trio of directions like a Michelin starred menu might reinterpret a humble ingredient. As a DJ, Corrigan has supported Dave Clarke, running his Purgatory events alongside the label of the same name and releasing elsewhere on Concrete Berlin, Underground Records and Complexed Records.

‘Paradise’ thumps along at a clip, classic stabs manically cutting against off-beat bass whomps and tuned percussion melodies, hi-hats stuttering all the while. Snatches of East Asian melody waft in and out of focus and the melodic progression of the bassline adds a gently euphoric edge to this propulsive track.

‘Get Up’ heads into tribal techno territory, all juddering low end and menacingly toned percussive hits. Pulsing FX and evolving rhythmic structures keep the intrigue levels high as this juggernaut of a track presses on, full steam ahead.

‘Lagoon’ rounds off this well-balanced EP with a more housey take on techno, where filtered disco loops circulate under percolating percussive rhythms. Snatches of bright strings and powerful vocal refrains punctuate while the funk-fuelled bass slams hard. A piano twinkles somewhere in the distance as the layers of the track ebb and flow into each other in mesmerising fashion.

Maara’s latest effort comes straight from the inner zone. Whether meant for use as vision quest guidance or club hedonism, Fancy Feast continues the Canadian’s tradition of crafting seductive, trance-inducing dance music in mesmeric fashion. 

‘Can’t Slo Down’ is a vehicle for transcendence. Locked-in, hypnotic fare with subtle gear shifts consistent with Maara’s propensity towards trippy atmospherics and urgent dancefloor dynamics. Then, in a heady alloy of ritual throb and fractal warehouse ruffness, ‘Highrollerz’ finds Maara at her most propulsive. 

Prog reigns supreme across the record, but 'Princess Express' has the third-eye dilating magick in full effect. It’s both fractal and functional, a ritual incantation with rugged appeal. ‘Rude, Crude & Out Of Control’, on the other hand, harks back to those halcyon days of the free party movement. Proper breakbeat torque with yet another healthy dose of prog.

Yes yes we agree, after releasing @clint-official’s 90’s prog-house inspired ‘Spirit Call’ back in June, stopping there would have been a crime. So here he is, back on Correspondant with two new heaters.

The frenchman is on fire lately and we find him as efficient as ever on ‘Deacon Frost’ & ‘Theta Overdrive’. A highly energetic tribute to some iconic sounds from the late 90s, especially the ‘Sound of Frankfurt’ and the wild, euphoric nights held at Sven Vath’s legendary ‘Omen Club’ from 1988 to 1998.

Guerilla Records was a British record label that was founded in 1990 by William Orbit and Dick O'Dell. It was the birthplace for a new sound which had  'Progressed" from  original american house and the rave sound at the time.It was also the birthplace for many  at the time unknown young  artists such as Felix Da Housecat,Lemon Interrupt(Underworld)
Leftfield,D.O.P.,React2Rhythm,MoodBoyz,Billie Ray Martin and Spooky which was Charlie May's outfit.Charlie May would later become Sasha's studio partner and mentor.The label itself named this new sound "Dub House Disco" and released a showcase compilation of the same name in 1992.In  June that year same  year Mixmag announced on its cover"Progressive House,britain's cutting edge". Inside was  a top 10 list of this new sound now called Progressive House.Guerilla had 5 tracks in that list.This track features the 2 leading label artists it has the most pure sounding synth's you'll ever hear,such a dark moody tune and  a fist pumping euphoric one at the same time  !Just stunning!!!:~))

Distant Worlds returns to the fray for 2021, following the runaway success of last year’s Guidance Release EP from Cignol. Here we see the label reaching the lofty heights of their tenth release with an absolute beauty from Malta-based Sound Synthesis, himself fresh from a mighty fine run of form of late.

Melodic, warm electro with heart tugging melodies and gut punching beats are all present and correct: all but the coldest hearts will be melted by the euphoric chords, attention to detail and keen ear for a melodic hook prevalent throughout this fine release. Energetic yet emotional, Sound Synthesis succeeds here in bringing elements of acidic electro and transcendent soul tinged braindance sensibilities to the pot. 

Lead track, ‘Planet Hope’ is a deeply personal journey with a musical message of positivity wrapped up in the utopian optimism of all the finest electronica. ‘Thinking of You’ continues in the same vein, all beautiful atmospheres and melodic flourishes culminating in a masterful soul-tinged breakdown. 

Flip over for another assault on the emotional jugular with ‘Transmission of Life’ before rounding off with the acid tinged psychedelic hypnotism of ‘Spiral Reverb’. Distant Worlds does it again with a perfect marriage of retro futuristic techno soul, having found the perfect partner to deliver it in Sound Synthesis.
