Singular, evocative techno, as simple as that. 'Rara Avis' introduces the EP with a playful, intriguing and optimistic sound. The central three tracks build on a solid kick foundation and are primed to flood big dark spaces with memories - from the aching notes of 'Rivers Flow Far', through the emphatic and wistful title track 'The Long Tail' and onwards to peak with the swirling layers of 'Maelstrom'. To finish the EP is 'Against The Backdrop', a fitting acid-tinged cinematic close.

'Battle Scars' opens the EP in dramatic style and acts as a fittingly cinematic introduction before 'Control Phase' hits hard and direct; a slice of sweeping, grinding techno in its purest form. Title track 'Broken Signals' is an absolute beauty, aching pads, full of hope, cemented by an almost electro-tinged beat and set against a distant static noise. 'Contortion' follows with nothing short of relentless, bubbling malevolence. Bringing the EP to a close, is 'Wild Horses' with its layers of unmistakable Kennedy melody set against a solid 909 backdrop.

Reclaim Your City 538 | Inigo Kennedy

Asymmetric boss Inigo Kennedy returns to his label with a delectable six track EP 'Mercurial Plains'.

Title track 'Mercurial Plains' opens proceedings with its confident strides directly to the floor of a dark room punctuated by strobes and glimmers of movement. 'Gloaming' rolls in next, like ominous clouds over the horizon, haunting atmospheres set against a malevolent beat. Third track, 'Olden Grit' takes a step back to a sparse, gritty, landscape punctuated with tinges of acid ahead of 'Fugitive' which turns right back to the floor with dub-like echoes swirling around but occasionally coming up for air. Ramping up the tempo, the percussive shards of 'Iota-AX' bounce around ear-catching mischievous melodic fragments before the EP comes back down to land with the layered synth work of 'Lamina', firmly tipping its hat towards the Berlin School.

Asymmetric main man Inigo Kennedy returns to his label with a tasty six track EP 'Perpetual Notions'.

Opening track 'Eidetic Imprints' kicks things off in unadulterated electro mode with intertwining melodies underpinned by a rolling distortion, punctuated with acid. Title track 'Perpetual Notions' follows and is a percussion-driven swirling beast in which to utterly lose yourself. Easing up the tension comes the sprawling 'Nebula', expanding and contracting between scintillating hi-hat drops. 'Repeater' is up next, classic Asymmetric-style machine-gun percussion playing with a background of eerie tones and melodic splinters. 'Corrugation' is the fifth track, with its layers of mechanical percussion and sonic textures floating in and out throughout. The EP finishes up in style with 'Trypophobia', acid-tinged shoe-gaze electronic music at its finest.

'Curveball' kicks off the EP with solid intentions; a punchy kick overlayed with driving ever-moving gritty pulses and squelching bass. Next up, 'Shift-Register' brings purist techno to the fore with its slamming drums and swirling Detroit-like stabs. 'Bitter Horizon' turns up the darkness; heavy off-beat distortion and ominous atmospherics. In total contrast, title track 'Vague Reminders' is a beautiful slice of thought-provoking music; pads and melodic sounds play with each other over an almost heart-beat rhythmic bed. Closing the EP in style is 'Sepia Dreams' with its warped electro-like percussion and retro feeling melody.

Asymmetric boss Inigo Kennedy returns to his label with a distinctive five track EP 'A Perfect Cadence'.

Opening track 'Harbinger' launches the EP with yearning optimism; a compelling rhythm is joined by distinct, wistful elements that come and go with ease. 'Elbow Grease' takes things in a slightly heavier direction, almost machine-like dubby stabs against a clanking punchy beat. Third track, 'A Perfect Cadence' is a neat piece of undulating, precise techno that rolls along and builds with constantly shifting bell-like elements. Next up is 'Mountain Tops' which has such a playful, delicate and airy feel to it and absolutely evokes the soaring feeling of looking around from the top of a mountain. Closing track 'Serenity' delivers a crunchy acid-like bass and soft hope-filled melody that nods back to the optimism of the opening track in unmistakable IK style.

Opening track 'Climbing Frame' sets optimistic and mysterious organ-like tones against a driving rhythm full of machine-gun hi-hats and solid kick drums. Title track 'Ethereal Beacons' continues that theme albeit in a slightly more playful mood; a track with two distinct personalities that come and go. 'Metagalactic' follows, with an electro-like beat and splinters of staccato futurism. Next up is 'Altostratus' which keeps the combination of melancholy and hope but with a slightly heavier and grainier rhythm section. Closing the EP is the pure techno of 'Strong-Arm', full of swirling notes and constantly changing percussive elements glued together with a solid four-to-the-floor kick.

The title track 'Calm In The Storm' sets the mood with a mournful yet calming pad that rises and falls against a solid four-to-the-floor driving rhythm. 'Peculiar Turns' follows in quirky fashion; off kilter beats and mysterious sonic fragments coming and going. 'Rumble Strip' centres the release; a booming rhythm, undulating percussion and waves of arpeggio. Next up is 'Scotch Mist', an altogether darker affair setting tinges of drum and bass against a playful melody. Title track 'Number Crunching' slaps you around the face with its machine-gun percussion and heavy kick whilst a gritty sonic landscape swirls around. 'Into The Red Valley' is quite the provocative number, constantly evolving, constantly shifting layers of sound over a steady four-to-the-floor. Third track, 'Komorebi', floats into place with a dream-like melody intertwined with pads and held together by an instantly recognisable Asymmetric style percussive drum section; sunlight leaking through trees. Opening track 'Bit Glitter' sets a jittering lead against a gritty driving rhythm; simple yet deadly. Up next, the title track 'Butterfly Effects' pulsates in the best of ways; meditative Detroit inspired techno. 'A Heavy Agenda' is just that; heavy kicks and intentionally attention-grabbing washes of sound. 'On The Ropes' follows, a solid kick and playful echoes shifting in frequencies and timbre as the track progresses and so hard to resist. Parisian imprint Skryptöm is ran by Electric Rescue, and it’s a highly respected French label that has released music by Laurent Garnier, Amotik, Sigvard aka Tom Hades, Joton, Kmyle, and many other top producers.

One of the most respected techno artists around, Inigo Kennedy has created a remarkable sound as early as 1996. Jay Quentin und Silva Rymd bilden geschmackssicher den idealen Rahmen.

In Sachen Geschmackssicherheit werden die Fachkräfte auf der Lobby ihnen dabei in nichts nachstehen. Derek Plaslaiko, der erste und letzte DJ mit einem 12h-Boiler-Room-Set, kennt den elektronischen Underground zwischen Berlin und New York wie kein anderer und weiß wie man die richtigen vibes legt. Die kanadische Newcomerin LNS machte mit Veröffentlichungen auf DJ Sotofett’s Wania Label und Jayda G’s Freakout Cult letztes Jahr von sich reden, auf sie sind wir schon sehr gespannt. Ebenfalls hochgefeiert wird Resident Jessamine’s eindrucksvolles erstes Release „More Love Later“ auf ://about blank 003.

In der Nacht wird Eli Pavel mit ihrem Balearic/Disco/Pop-Sound das Zelt zum Club Tropicana verwandeln, bevor Kvrt - frisch von eben jenem - die Holzbohlen und Apfelpos zum wackeln bringt.

The next Blank Generation is happening on Easter Saturday. Old friends are leading the way on our MDF floor, and they know best. We are more than excited, that Inigo Kennedy will be back again and not only musically, but also humanly cast a spell. Make sure to memorize Blazej Malinowski's name, he is making splashes with his melodic, energetic live sets. Jay Quentin and Silva Rymd will complete this tasteful arrangement.

Other experts in tastefulness will be playing in the Lobby. Derek Plaslaiko, the first and last DJ with a 12h-Boiler-Room-set, knows electronic underground music between Berlin and New York best and how to put the right vibes. The Canadian newcomer LNS has turned lots of heads with releases on DJ Sotofett's label Wania and Jayda G's Freakout Cult. At night, Eli Pavel will turn the tent to Club Tropicana with her Balearic/Disco/Pop-sound, before Kvrt - fresh of the same - will make the floor shake.

Inigo Kennedy is a pioneering and respected techno and electronic music producer and DJ. Since early on he experimented with electronics and technology and immersed himself in the airwaves, music stores and scenes of London, Manchester and beyond. From there has evolved his distinctive sound and attitude to music making and performance - entertaining accidents, taking risks and steadfastly following his heart rather than the herd.

He is well known for always bringing technical and creative originality and skill to his work - not least to his own innovative label Asymmetric which freely criss-crossed the electronic music landscape.

His DJ schedule has taken him all over the globe where he consistently plays energetic and emotionally-charged sets - often throwing in curve-balls or nodding to classic tracks that have shaped his own musical arc.

He has been responsible for a large and diverse back catalogue of releases and remixes on a number of labels around the world and has worked under a number of aliases such as Reducer and Tomito Satori. His discography stretches to well over 100 releases on vinyl, CD and digitally on established, if not seminal, labels such as Missile, Semantica, Stroboscopic Artefacts and current home, Token.

He is now a keystone of the Token label, having been responsible for its first release in 2007 and dozens of releases, remixes and collaborations since. He has planted seeds along the label's history with bold, distinctive and memorable tracks like 'Arcing', 'Cathedral', 'Obsidian', 'Plaintive', 'Voyager' and 'Tornado'. His critically acclaimed LP 'Vaudeville' released in 2014 perfectly captured his uniquely evocative sound and attitude.

Fast forward to 2018 and the culmination of his next steps with a powerful follow-up LP 'Strata' for Token. As the title of the tenth release on the label put it, onwards and wrongwards!
