Reflexions Podcast 35 - Dschen

Our second podcast of the year brings a special edition.   

Today we’re honouring the work of Chitra Records by publishing a podcast composed exclusively of their releases.   

Chitra is an American record label based in Oxford Mississippi and run by Dionis Afonichev (Dionisaf). Their sound focuses on "surreal music for deep listening". 

Dionis is a lovely and passionate person who works hard to put forward the sound of contemporary ambient music. We highly recommend you check out their work!

Layn is a dj/producer born and raised in Brussels. Taking care of a weekly FM radioshow is his first focus. Making you dive into yourself on the dancefloor would be the second.

Hawkan is a member of FTRSND collective. Shaman and sound engineer, he co-founds Initiate with Pattrn, sonøren and Airem in 2015. His universe is a journey between melancholic and voodoo music.

For our third voodoo Initiation we present Hesh. 

Hesh is a traveller. He spent the last few years between Leeds, Brussels, Berlin and is now based in Maastricht. 
During these formative years he studied electronic music in depth with a special focus on environmental sound.  His musical journey started with house music and drifted away to techno, acousmatic music and soundscapes.  Now part of the FTRSND family and the Initiate team, he keeps on refining his sound which aims to challenge traditional notions of dance-floor music. 
Enjoy unusual dj sets that travel through time and space.

Ness began his electronic music journey in the late 90's and his evolving interest and passion soon encouraged him to start a dj career experimenting with various genres – from trance to pure experimental. With a background in sound engineering and many years of research and fine-tuning, he gradually developed a distinct personal style with a strong focus on atmosphere combined with hypnotic vibes. In 2007 he opened his own record store in his hometown in Sardinia (Italy) and 2 years later he founded his first label - Mono Records.

Currently he is running The Gods Planet - an independent platform established since 2010 with Claudio PRC.

Ness music is defined as an exploration of wide range of deep and hypnotic techno and ambient soundscapes.

Fabian Kempe aka Korridor is in the business of creating passages – both for himself and those who come in contact with his music. With highly acclaimed releases on Hypnus Records, Nordanvind and Northern Electronics over the last few years, Korridor has swiftly become a household name in the European electronic music scene. However, Fabian Kempe is by no means a novice. He has been active within the music scene as a producer under various monikers for over 12 years. The paths have been winding but they all lead up to the defined philosophy of Korridor.

Milena is a producer and live performer who since 2013 has been developing her own style, nestle between ambient, experimental sounds and hazy techno where you can easily lose yourself in the folds and layers. In December 2018 she launched her debut vinyl "Immensity EP" on Delirio label.

"An invitation to Relax"

For our fourth podcast we welcome Adhémar. A very talented French artist whose work you'll have heard on Oslated and Aarden records.

Please read his note :) 

"This recording is an invitation to relax  and relieve any tensions. 
You can follow the instructions below. 
Stay in Shavasana for as long as you want - let go !
Lie flat on the back with the arms about 15 cm away from the body, palms facing upward.
A thin pillow or folded cloth may be placed behind the head to prevent discomfort. A rolled up blanket can be placed under the knees, heels still touching the ground, to relieve low back tension. 
Let the fingers curl up slightly.
Move the feet slightly apart to a comfortable position and close the eyes.
The head and spine should be in a straight line.
Make sure the head does not fall to one side or the other.
Relax the whole body and stop all physical movement. 
Become aware of the natural breath and allow it to become rhythmic and relaxed".

For our 6th edition we are proud to present to you a very special podcast of exclusive compositions by Brice Deloose aka Pattrn. 

Pattrn's sonic journey is composed by 85% of exclusive acousmatic compositions specially recorded for this Podcast.

The music is based around the theme of time; the way we perceive and manipulate it - flashbacks and day-dreaming states running multiple times in parallel and breaking the time continuum.

Reflexions Podcasts 06 - Pattrn

Our 7th installment comes courtesy of Thomas Hayes - a fine selector and producer. 

For this podcast Thomas wanted to pay tribute to one of his favorite artist - Tetsu Inoue - a Japanese minimalist music composer. 

A few words by Thomas on his motivations for this tribute: 

"In 2020 Tetsu’s music meant a great deal to me. It guided me through difficult times by helping me work through certain anxieties; quickly, I found myself buying all of his music, which I feel has healing powers. I hope that through this podcast, Tetsu’s music may help others as it helped me. 
	This tribute contains solo productions under Tetsu’s real name as well as collaborations with Pete Namlook and Uwe Schmidt, amongst others.  The last track is made by partner in crime Killian Vandenbemd, who for some years now, has beginning become a promising artist. His sound matches great with Tetsu’s."

Reflexions Podcast 07 - Thomas Hayes (Tetsu Inoue tribute)

Initiate concept is born from a passion for boundary pushing electronic music. We want to move away from trends of instant gratification to explore club music and its intersections with other forms of musical expression.
 
The sound we wish to share with you makes us dance, pause, reflect and meditate. It takes us away and transports us.
