Commutativity

I traveled a lot by train during these last months between the North of France and the French Alps. So, to compose, I had no analog synth, no modular, no processing device, only a laptop.
I decided to compose during my travel time a suite of tracks with only two plug-ins in addition to the native Ableton tools: Pigments 3.5 by Arturia and Emergence by Daniel Gergely (a nice granular plug-in with a lot of possible modulations).
This piece, "Up", is a certain form of resonance with the sounds of the train on the old railroad network of the French countryside.
In Pigments 3.5, the sequencer can be strongly modulated to the point of being a chaotic generator of synthesis events. The granular Emergence technique I used on an auxiliary send brings a certain chaotic thickness to the sounds.
