Inner Symphony veterans Clawz SG & Mashk come together for this collaborative track, “Chrysalis” and its two remixed iterations by Bessiff and Modul Art. Rich in texture and complexity, each track tells its own version of an emotive narrative through robust synthesizers and melodies.

“Chrysalis” carries a driving rhythm that builds to a crescendo of cinematic synths that elicit feelings of longing in the listener. It seemingly tells a story, like the butterfly or moth emerging from its transformative state. Bessiff gives an ominous take on this plot, with darker pulses of synths weaving between the melodies. Modul Art creates a more cerebral, yet dance-inducing atmosphere with rhythmic variation throughout.

A captivating release by the two French producers, Chrysalis and its remixed accompaniments demand multiple listens to get a true feel for the stories they tell.

Inner Symphony is introducing “Quintessence Vol. 2 Remix Edition” - showcasing fresh cuts of the label’s “Quintessence Vol. 2” release earlier this year. Building on the themes of the initial release, the Remix Edition adds new, darker layers and a fresh perspective on the tracks. 

The release begins with a Claws SG remix of Ceas’ “Mio”, taking the melodic themes of the original and placing them into a more percussive soundscape. The track ends with a dynamic finale setting the tone of the EP. James Marley’s remix of “Mimas” by Hushkin follows, a steady ethereal track that blends smoothly into the next song - a remix of his own track “Night Walk” done by Rustboy. Here Rustboy takes the contemplative nature of the original track and gives it a softer, more cinematic feel. The fourth track, Hushkin’s “Goliath”, remixed by Soul Button, is a super-smooth cut that can seamlessly ease you into any mood. Soul Button’s own track “Meridian” is then remixed by Alex Rusin, who gives the melancholic original a more ethereal touch. The release closes off with “Odin” by Hells Kitchen & Anders., remixed by Mashk. This detailed track invites multiple listens, and builds steadily, taking the mood from the previous track and pulling us forward to end the release on a contemplative note.

This release is a compelling showcase of some of Inner Symphony’s most dynamic artists, and offers a great complement to the original.

Nick Devon, aka Nikos Chrysoulakis, is an Athens based DJ/producer whose involvement with electronic music has spanned more than two decades. His musical journey commenced at 16, when he started experimenting with toy pianos and pretty much anything that could produce notes. Before long he was playing his father’s vinyls and from here, quickly advanced to DJing and producing. Initially producing drum & bass as well as trance, he later transitioned his sound, gravitating more towards electronica and techno. Hence his ability to unite a plethora of elements and genres throughout his current productions. His dark trippy melodic sounds are distinctive, forged through a combination of digital, analogue and physical instruments sourced within in his own studio. This admirable skill has earned him much respect from numerous high profile artists worldwide. As a former vinyl DJ, Nick is also an avid record collector and to this day, spins plenty of old and new records. He enjoys embellishing his vinyl love by including them in his gigs and sets where ever possible. 

It was 2010 when he officially launched his solo project and from this point forward, Nick started producing sounds and music that shook the dance floor, yet bestowed captivating melodies and emotional soundscapes,  allowing people to create their own story within his productions. Ever since then, Nick’s career swiftly evolved and 2015 was his most successful year to date with two huge EP’s titled “The Poem” and “Cosmos”. His remix on Innellea - “Colante” quickly followed in 2016 and with all three EP’s released on Steyoyoke Recordings, it clearly affirmed just why he is considered a core member of this Berlin based collective. His tracks have been remixed by the likes of Kellerkind, Rolland Appel and Cid Inc and with an ever growing fan base, his music is regularly played and supported by some of the biggest DJs around the globe.
Throughout his career, Nick has released originals and produced remixes on a number of labels such as, iRecords, Union Jack, 3AM, Blindfold Recordings, Us & Them, Steyoyoke and Inside Out Records. It’s only the start of 2016 and with a string of upcoming releases to look forward to, Nick Devon certainly has some exciting things on the horizon.
