We’ve got awesome feedback, amazing quotes for Future Sounds Of Kraut Vol. 1, very good sales, too, so here is Vol. 2:
17 modern krauty electronic tracks (9 of them exclusive) inspired by Kraftwerk, Can, Neu!, Cluster, Harmonia, Klaus Schulze and many others. Curated and compiled by Compost artist Fred und Luna. The collage on the cover – like on Vol.1 - was exclusively made by the fantastic artist Norika Nienstedt from Kraut metropolis Düsseldorf.

Future sounds of Kraut, what’s it all about? Maybe Volume 2 will bring it to light for you...
It’s not easy at all or even impossible to define the musical genre “Kraut”. Nevertheless, Compost Records and Fred und Luna strike out on the path to find the diverse elements of German electronic music of the 1970s and 1980s and their effects on the new German and international music scene.
After the immense success of Volume 1 a follow-up volume was soon started, tying in stylistically with its predecessor and furthermore ‒ as this is one basic principle of the series ‒ expanding the musical spectrum by adding new krauty elements step by step. So now, besides stylistic followings to Volume 1, you will hear some more club oriented and experimental tracks. Feel free to listen and get krautified!

About Kosmischer Läufer /
In East Germany, way back in the early 1970s, Martin Zeichnete (Kosmischer Läufer) worked as a sound editor for DEFA (Deutsche Film AG). Like many young East Germans of the time he would listen furtively to West German radio at night and became infatuated with Kosmische Musik and Krautrock. “Spargelspiegel” was written back in 1982. Hitherto unreleased it was one of the songs Martin recorded for himself when he had some free time in the studio. He was planning to use it as part of his ‘Jahre der ruhigen Sonne” project but it fell by the wayside. Luckily it is now available exclusively on this compilation.

About Fred und Luna /
The curators of this compilation, live in a long-established fashion house in Karlsruhe/Germany. The two plastic mannequins are the muses of musician, author and photo/film maker Rainer Buchmüller, who calls his music either Elektrokraut or Krautelektro. “Monotonikum”, with its Detroit-styled Autobahn night drive feeling, was originally released on Optimo Music in 2016 and edited for this compilation.

Earlier this month Bytes announced the reissue of the killer 1990s electro EPs by SEM (aka Damon Baxter, who would go on to record as Deadly Avenger) on May 17, 2024. The second track to be made available for public consumption is Area 5, taken from The Demon EP, the second SEM release, on which Damon expanded the pure old-school electro SEM sound to include elements of Detroit techno and dystopian sci-fi strings, giving off serious John Carpenter/Vangelis’s Blade Runner soundtrack vibes.

Meet Kate Pending, an enigmatic and ingenious Berlin-based artist whose very first full-length album works as a wide introduction to the universe of her many influences and capabilities. The edgy “Pigmented Reality” develops its magic through twelve well-constructed originals – plus three insightful remixes by Void Loop ( ) and Iron Curtis –, spanning amongst different textures and soundscapes. Ethereal, experimental, progressive, and whatnot strokes come together and bring to life a multi-genre palette, filled with a ubiquitous synth extravaganza that results in both dance-floor-oriented gems and relaxing introspective themes. 

The mastermind behind the remix premiered here, in turn, needs no introduction. His rich discography with acclaimed appearances on vital labels such as Frank Music, Melomana, Permanent Vacation, DistroKid, Dirt Crew, Vitalik, and Chiwax, just to name a few, has put Iron Curtis among the most interesting and solicited House Music artists of his generation. His two Electro-tinged breaks Augmented and Augmented Dub reworks of the title track deliver the stripped back maximalist sound we come to expect from him. The energy and gravity of the original was kept but comes now clad in a peak-time gait.

Singer-songwriter Kat (Katerina Papachristou) and her band Tango With Lions are back after five years of absence from discography and while their previous two albums - "Verba Time" (2010), "A Long Walk" (2013) - have expanded their loyal audience beyond Greek borders. Their long awaited new album, "The Light", will be the first release of Inner Ear for 2018.

"The Light" documents a desire to emerge towards the light through nine stories-questionmarks of introspection. Stories of separation, pleasures, deconstruction that motivate either nihilism and sinking into darkness, either excessive optimism or the acceptance that darkness and light can steadily coexist in music. This natural coexistence is the thread that unites the songs of “The Light” musically and lyrically. Nine songs, different in style, reaffirm that the atmosphere in Tango With Lions’ music is created through images that lure the music, with the lyrics being the key link.

The album began to take shape in 2015 and was completed in the summer of 2017. It was recorded at SCA studio with sound engineer and band member Thodoris Zefkilis, with additional recordings from AKRON studio, where it all began with sound engineer Vangelis Fampas. The mastering of the album was made in Pytzamax studio by Yannis Paxevanis.

Η Kat (Κατερίνα Παπαχρήστου) επιστρέφει με τους Tango With Lions μετά από πέντε χρόνια δισκογραφικής απουσίας και ενώ με τα προηγούμενα δύο albums τους -“Verba Time” (2010), “A Long Walk” (2013)- έχει δημιουργηθεί ένα πιστό κοινό του συγκροτήματος, όχι μόνο στην Ελλάδα αλλά και στο εξωτερικό. Το πολυαναμενόμενο νέο τους album, “The Light”, θα είναι η πρώτη κυκλοφορία της Inner Ear για το 2018.

Το “The Light” καταγράφει μια επιθυμία ανάδυσης προς το φως μέσα από εννέα ιστορίες-ερωτηματικά εσωτερικής αναζήτησης. Ιστορίες αποχωρισμού, απολαύσεων, αποδόμησης που κινητροδοτούν πότε τον μηδενισμό, πότε την καταβύθιση στο σκοτάδι, πότε την υπερβολική αισιοδοξία, πότε την αποδοχή ότι το σκοτάδι και το φως μπορούν να συνυπάρχουν μονίμως στη μουσική. Αυτή η φυσική συνύπαρξη αποτελεί το νήμα που ενώνει τα τραγούδια του The Light στιχουργικά και μουσικά. Εννέα τραγούδια διαφορετικά σε ύφος μεταξύ τους που επανεπιβεβαιώνουν ότι η ατμόσφαιρα στη μουσική των Tango with Lions δημιουργείται μέσα από εικόνες που παρασέρνουν τη μουσική, με βασικό στοιχείο σύνδεσης την θεματική των στίχων.

Το album άρχισε να παίρνει μορφή το 2015 και ολοκληρώθηκε το καλοκαίρι του 2017.  Οι ηχογραφήσεις έγιναν στο SCA studio με τον Θοδωρή Ζευκιλή, με συμπληρωματικές ηχογραφήσεις από το AKRON studio από όπου ξεκίνησε η πορεία του δίσκου με τον Βαγγέλη Φάμπα. Το mastering του δίσκου έγινε στα Pytzamax studio από τον Γιάννη Παξεβάνη.
