A long term affair with the label finally leads to Vasconcellos’ debut on Inner Shah Recordings. The Brazilian artist unveils Italo Metálico EP, as a sweaty homage to the Italian Disco classics with a modern twist.

“Italo Metálico” features classical 80s elements, mixed with a robotized vocal, and a pinch of distortion and analog warmth. “Acid Dream” sets the tempo higher, with an energetic approach aimed at the dancefloors. This iconic B-side is driven by an infectious bassline and dreamy synths, that complement the opening track with more energy.

Although the originals were already secret club weapons, the EP becomes even more special with participations of Bizzarro Universe and Mike Sacchetti on remix duties. The Hamburg duo Bizzarro Universe brings in their infusion of Italo Trance with Eurodance, in a fun and chaotic approach, whereas Mike Sacchetti brings in a nostalgic club-driven touch.

Originally from the south of Spain, but now based in London, Mara Mortem enjoys playing lesser-known tunes in a mix of languages within the Minimal Wave, Synthpunk, Cold & Dark wave, Old School EBM, Retrowave, Italo and Dark Electro genres.

Mara is a resident DJ and co-organiser of the Reformation Club in London. Reformation puts together monthly club nights as well as gigs with the mantra "Reforming yesterday's darkwave for tomorrow..." They showcase musicians in the underground music scene of the multiple weird waves.

Inspired by the project’s name, "From Hell to Disco", she curated a set of dark yet high-energy songs. The mix begins with old-school Retro Wave sounds, transitions into modern Italo and Dark Disco, and culminates in tracks infused with elements of EBM, Synthwave, and Techno.

From Hell to Disco - #017 - Mara Mortem

We're thrilled to introduce our latest signing: the French electronic duo Nomenklatür. Renowned for their innovative and genre-blending sound, Nomenklatür makes their debut with a captivating EP featuring three original tracks, each offering a unique sonic experience that pushes the boundaries of leftfield electronica.

The journey begins with "King Da Ka," a track that blends intricate rhythms with atmospheric textures, creating a rich sonic palette that captivates from the very first note. Following is "Say It," which delves deeper into the duo’s experimental ethos with its pulsating beats and hauntingly melodic undertones. The EP concludes with “Dr Strangelove,” which slows the pace and takes listeners on an exhilarating ride through the duo's innovative soundscape, featuring a high-energy fusion of rhythmic pulses and captivating synth lines.
On the remix front, Karassimeon reimagines “King Da Ka” with a high-tempo twist, infusing the track with fresh energy and amplifying its dynamic qualities.

Nomenklatür - Dr Strangelove (SAM018)

Klangwergkh @klangwergkh, a Berlin/Brandenburg-based DJ, is a prominent member of the Scarabaeus project @skarabaeusounds and one half of the DJ duo "Sclaverand." His sets are characterized by a fusion of fast, groovy techno from the 90s and 2000s, enhanced by a rich array of percussion. Alongside this, he showcases a deep appreciation for the heavier, slower beats of industrial and EBM. Klangwergkh draws significant inspiration from his collaboration with THBX, notably featuring the track "Fallen," for which he co-directed and produced the accompanying music video. His musical style is also influenced by the classic works of Thomas P. Heckmann and the early productions of I HATE MODELS. Known for his meticulous curation, Klangwergkh takes particular pride in selecting distinctive closing tracks, understanding their role in leaving a lasting impression and defining the essence of a memorable set.

There was an opening between the trees, an arena within which a fire burned brightly casting sparks and flames high upward toward the forest ceiling.

Shadows danced and moved in a circular motion, each swaying in time with the beat of the drums. Their faces were concealed by the darkness, for everyone was anonymous here.

The music echoed loudly, sounds of the wild. It bounced from tree to tree, becoming loud and relentless in the heat of the darkness.

This would go on all night.

Benyayer is set to release a new record on his own label. A bass driven affair which leans heavily into the UK lineage of the genre and reminds us why big soundsystems and the wobble of an undercurrent are all you might ever need.

Rome-based producer A-Tweed lands on our sub-label Human Endeavour with a four-track EP of hypnotic, leftfield chuggers. Well known for his cocktail of crawling, lysergic beats and low slung acid mutations, the Italian producer follows outings for labels like TRESOR, Multi Culti and Hard Fist, with the wonky, tripped-out rhythms of ‘Riot Disco Punk’.

Shunning conventional dancefloor tropes, A-Tweed brings his signature punk attitude to this self-proclaimed “personal musical riot”, launching with ‘Kabuki Spin’, a steady beat awash with reverberating synths and whispered vocals that take us out of reality. 

The off kilter wonk of the title track follows with a smattering of bleeps, bloops, crunches and vocal stabs, setting the scene for the intoxicating, skewed rhythms of ‘Akira Danse!’ and psychedelic tribal beats of ‘Dusty Rumble Fish’; each track serving as a reminder that it's always more fun to colour outside of the lines.

Perhaps they were just dreams after all.
