Born in Birmingham (UK) Tidal Aka Wayne, has always been into music since an early age. Some of his early musical memories 
come from many genre's including Reggae, Electro, Hip-Hop, Soul
and Electronica. 

It was through his older brother, how he got exposed to fresh music growing up. 1995 was a pivotal year for Tidal, this was when he

first was introduced to the sounds of LTJ Bukem & MC Conrad. Through listening to a lot of tunes, from various mix albums like Promised Land & Logical Progression, he decided to venture into production in 1998, and then later progressed into Djing back in 2000. In 2008 Tidal’s track ‘Impressions’ got signed to Good Looking Records (A life long dream), which was released last year, and also part of a Fabric Live CD mixed by LTJ Bukem. 

Since his debut release on Good Looking Records, Tidal's 'Impressions' has done the rounds worldwide, with DJ Support from the likes of Fabio (BBC Radio 1), Big Bud, DJ Marky (Innerground) 
and Makoto (Japan).

// ABOUT THE AXO COLLECTIVE
Midlands based labels, Advection Music and Odyssey Recordings join forces to bring you a series of special events based in London. Both labels are born out of pure passion for the music, the style is deeper drum 'n' bass. The venue is The Waiting Room, Stoke Newington, London. Which has had high profile artists like Ulrich Schnauss, Joy Orbison and Blu Mar Ten. It has an intimate settings of up to 150 music lovers, the tone of the night reflects on the atmosphere, quality underground deep drum 'n' bass. This event sees the launch of Rhythm Tek's debut LP 'This is Me' available from November 2014 on Odyssey Recordings. This artist is currently making some waves in our scene, with his distinct style of progressive drum 'n' bass which he calls 'Dutmospheric'.It is deep drum 'n' bass with a darker edge. Keeping the perfect balance of musicality.

Special guests on the night will be DJ Fabio from Creative Source & Swerve. Having been around for over 2 decades, Fabio has acquired legendary status for good reason. Starting his career as a Pirate Radio DJ in the mid 80's his style evolved with the various musical genres Dub, Rare Groove, Hip Hop, Disco to early House, Jungle and Drum 'n' Bass. It’s a credit to him that after all these years he remains at the top of his game.

Joining Fabio will be new rising star Denial who since his debut, has made some major signings with some top drum 'n' bass labels. His signature style is raw, beautiful and deep rolling music for the dancefloor. Joining his set will be the talented Hannah Eve from V Recordings / Fizzy Beats Family.

It also features a brand new drum 'n' bass show hosted by the Central Projection collective (Tidal, MC Smilee & Bass'Flo). Every Sunday 10pm-12am. This is a next generation show from the Late Jay Le Roc, who was the originator of the concept. The residents of AXO are in fact stars themselves which is major advantage from Advection and Odyssey. Tidal (Owner of Advection Music, whose work appears on LTJ Bukems Good Looking Records) will be doing a special set with the talented vocalists Iriann Joyce (Advection Music / Liquid V / Fokuz) & Hannah Eve, for the first time, both singers will be performing a duet over some their best collaborations. Tidal & Iriann Joyce have a genuine charismatic stage presence and have been doing the live act since 2012 (Kmag Presents 'AM:Live' London). They are currently working on their debut EP 'Love Devotion' which will be released on Advection Music. Narkotix & Slamdunk from Odyssey Recordings will be delivering an up-front drum 'n' bass set, showcasing the best of Rhythm Teks 'This Is Me' LP. With Ionx on vocal duties. Expect pure 'Dutmospherics' deep, minimal and progressive drum 'n' bass. Pariah famous from (Good Looking Records / Blames 720 Degrees label) will be bringing the cutting edge element to the night with techy, deep and atmospheric beats, having recently played at the Odyssey Music Box nights in Wolverhampton the duo will be playing new material forthcoming on Odyssey. Bass'Flo from (Island / Universal) will be representing Advection Music, with his unique style of 'Future Artcore' beats. Expect deep amens and crisp rolling breakbeats to the highest degree. Bass'Flo has currently been working on some music with Kirsty Hawkshaw & Ulrich Schnauss, Tidal, Aural Imbalance and Galaxi. Hosting the night will MC Smilee from Central Projection, The CP collective itself has been running for 10 Years from Birmingham, and Smilee has been the voice since the beginning, after successfully hosting at Progression Sessions, Bukem In Session, Break Thru, Bassdrive and Scenic & Advisory Presents. Smilee continues to push the boundaries within our scene. Joining him is one of best known MC's from Totnes, MC Delight. Who has recently been performing at Central Projection in Birmingham, and is well connected with the Cadence Records label based in Torquay.

Swedish producer Sebastian Ahrenberg has established a reputation as one of the finest purveyors of quality drum & bass over a distinguished career that has stretched back over 15 years. From his early tracks on LTJ Bukem’s ground-breaking label Good Looking Records to his more recent work across labels including Metalheadz, Soul:r, Hospital & Commercial Suicide, Seba's music has retained a timeless appeal and brings together beats and bass in classic yet inimitable style. Ethereal atmospheres, crisp breaks and sublime bass rhythms are hallmarks of a sound Seba has made his own, with his DJ sets representing this sound to the fullest. In 2013, he releases his second album ‘Identity’ on his own label Secret Operations.

New month, new podcast. SUNANDBASS Podcast #71 comes from @DJNeptune.

Known for releases on labels such as Astrophonica, Droppin' Science, Inperspective, Bassbin and Hospital to name a few, Neptune’s music combines funky rhythms and emotive strings with traditional sampling techniques and technological basslines.

Neptune is one half of the dynamic duo Fracture & Neptune, who set up Astrophonica in the early 2000s to showcase their visions of what the music was and what they thought it could become. It is now home to daring artists who share that same flair for rhythm and space, enjoy risk-taking and a have thirst for the new.

Last summer, Neptune played his maiden set at SUNANDBASS and tore down the dancefloor with his neurofunk sounds of the late ‘90s. This mix continues in that vein, showcasing some of the deeper aspects of said genre while dropping a few bangers from the time too, of course. Much like fine wine, these vintage records need to breathe; the mixes are long and the tunes are given space to do justice to the time that Drum and Bass was arguably at its peak. So please enjoy!

Another outstanding set from back in the day, a rare Progression Sessions live set from Nuernberg, Germany, ~2002. I was sent this by one of the listeners to my YT channel - massive respect to Julia for reaching out to me. I'd not heard this set before and we're not sure which year it's from, I'm guessing ~2002 (this may be the limited edition 2004 PS live set but I can't find any info on that release, plus I had to do a bit of editing to cut out some noise, distortion, etc. so this is unlikely to have been an official release  - if anyone knows please leave a comment).
