In March 2007, Inigo Kennedy put Token on the map with our first release ‘Identify Yourself’.
7 years & 10 releases later, he now releases his first full length on Token: ‘Vaudeville’, a project that feels like the culmination of all those years and all those records.
In true, theatrical manner, Vaudeville is a collection of differing themes - from the abstract and freakishly odd to the direct and resonant. And just as the Vaudevillian shares a common purpose with his co-stars as the 'voice of the city'('voix de ville'), there runs through the centre of this record a clear narrative for urban experience.

On 14 April we are releasing a single to portend the full show: 'Lullaby'/'Petrichor'. These two tracks will stand alone on a 12'' vinyl, with the rest of Vaudeville released as a 2xLP & CD on the 2nd June.

This was worth the wait, we promise.

RBExclusive: goldFFinch - Brother

It is one year ago that Mathias Kaden presented a very personal journey to his musical roots in the shape of an album called "Energetic". Equally as long he has been out in the world as a live act - with some large analogous luggage and the same joy of performing with which he had won many hearts as a DJ on the dancefloor beforehand. After the first batch of remixes (among others by Michael Mayer and Redshape) there are now following further revisions of three of the album's tracks. 

Finally, “Soulmakers“ and Spain again. The duo Pulshar drapes its remix in a warm dub blanket with many delays, soft strings and smoothly bouncing bass drums. The perfect conclusion to this second part of “Energetic” remixes.

All three tracks on this EP were actually made for the Âme live show, but at the end it turned out that we used them in our DJ sets too. 
Due to the great feedback we decided to put them on a 12-inch accompanying the Âme Live CD. Karl Hyde and James Lavelle on one 12-inch should be something for a lad's paradise and even 'Enoi' sounds brighter than before.

Heavy Rotations Vol 1 is Maeve's first long player. Releasing a
compilation has long been an ambition of the label, however time was the
key component in producing a record we could all be proud of. The best
laid plans can often fall by the wayside, having a clear idea of what
you want to achieve with a record like this changes constantly as you
collect the pieces of the puzzle and try fit them together in a way that
makes sense.

As well as the label founders we started by also inviting friends that
had already released on Maeve, to contribute to the compilation. This
was a good starting point as each of those artists are all quite
different from one another so we felt it could produce some interesting
results. There was no brief, just a blank canvas to contribute something
they felt belonged on the label. It was also super important for us to
use this record as a platform for lesser known artists to showcase their
work.

So after 2 years of planning we finally have an 11 track compilation
together which will be delivered as a triple vinyl in early June. It is
a record that developed and changed a lot over that period but now is
something Maeve is very excited to share with the world.

On May 19th we will launch the record at Funkhaus Berlin with a line up
compiled of those who contributed to the compilation.

It"s been some time since label boss Gregor Tresher featured on Break New Soil. His and Karotte&#8217;s 2011 smash, &#8220;Sol&#8221;, was his last release, a track preceded by his excellent album &#8220;Lights From The Inside&#8221;. Since then, Gregor has concentrated on the A&amp;R&#8217;ing of the label whilst creating and releasing club hits with the likes of Ovum, Music Man and Drumcode. Today he returns home, riding the wave of support for his current Cocoon hit &#8220;About A Good Place&#8221; and enjoying his seemingly endless run of good form to present: &#8220;Warpaint.&#8221;

No camouflage here. &#8220;Warpaint&#8221; sees Gregor continue his run of bold arena rocking Techno releases. &#8220;I realised that its been well over a year since my last full release on the label and having really enjoyed moving back toward a tougher Techno sound with my Cocoon and Drumcode singles, I wanted to carry that sound into my latest for Break New Soil.&#8221; 

The original burns from the opening thump of the kick-drum. The ever-increasing intensity is fuelled by piercing single note synth riffs, shimmering hi-hats, Gong crashes and lazer shots. An epic concoction. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been working on &#8216;Warpaint&#8217; for quite some time, playing and refining it over the last few months&#8221; says Gregor. &#8220;It&#8217;s been one of the peak time records in my sets and does quite some damage everywhere I play it, hence the name.&#8221;

On the remix is an artist that has impressed Gregor with his recent releases, Kernel Key. &#8220;I&#8217;ve been a fan of all his music over the past months and on his &#8216;Warpaint&#8217; remix he adds his signature groove, which gives it a great twist!&#8221;

Natte Haarie is an Amsterdam-based DJ. He started playing his groovy eclectic sound back in 2010 and has gradually been making underground waves ever since.                                               

He is a manic enthusiast and compulsive hoarder of anything oldskool and obscure: from deep Chicago and Detroit tracks, and wonky Acid and Rave bangers, to pure gems from the heyday of Disco and New-Wave. Only music with a heartbeat and plenty of rough edges stands a chance of passing by in his full-power sets.

Born and raised in a suburb - a so-called ''Vinex-wijk'' - in the Amsterdam metropolitan area, he, as a young boy, sincerely enjoyed listening to his father playing the piano. This would eventually spark his true love for rhythm and melody, something he simply cannot do without today.

After moving (back) to Amsterdam, he soon discovered its very vibrant underground music scene. Instantly liking everything about - the tangible energy in its grimy warehouses and sweaty basements especially. This ultimately made him decide to start deejaying himself.

And in case you were wondering... His alias comes from ''Mata Hari'': an historical and notorious Dutch femme fatale from the turn of the twentieth century. As a matter of fact, Natte Haarie happens to be a distant relative - she was the aunt of my father's grandmother - of the real deal, something he only just found out recently!
