1990 track from Masta Ace extended and locked down to 107bpm for your mixing pleasure. Only did a simple intro and outro extension on this one and a couple of other minor touches. Samples the groove from Randy Crawford's Streetlife so it fits in nicely with a disco / boogie party set.

Hard-to-mix jazz-latin-funk-synth smasher re-edited and locked down to a solid 120. First found out what this tune was by asking Gilles at some dodgy gig in a community centre in a housing estate in Vauxhall (bet he doesn't play those any more) Apparently a "Loft Classic" but when I looked in my loft all I could find was a few old toys and some Christmas deccys.

1975 Afro Jazz Classic - Hypnotic vocal and BADASS bassline dropping about a third of the way in. Rough master, but checked it in the car and made a few oz-chavs give me evils so that's good enough for me.

Re-edit of a crusty classic soul ballad "Your Best Friend and Me" by the Expos. I just loved the piano when I heard it so looped it around a few times, drenched it in reverb, pressed a few more buttons and this is the result. Just a bit of fun really. Reminds me of something the Avalanches might have done (better)

Part One (Get Up)

When I listen to this track all I can imagine is the smiles on the faces of the musicians as they worked on this. Absolutely wicked drumming, frenzied piano and completely over the top synth playing. Plus there's an unexpected dose of hard core b-boy breakbeat action in the the middle. It's not an underground soul fueled track, but a perfect example of the kind of disco excess that caused the whole thing to blow up!

1990 Hip House Disco classic given some extra latin percussion, a few synthy bits and the usual cut and paste shenanigans. I was pretty sure this cut was from 89 hence the title of the edit, looks like I was getting ahead of myself though. I'll always remember this as a massive house party track, as played back in the day by DJ Touche who went to my school and used to cut this one up with all sorts of breaks and bleeps.

Absolute top quality Shep Pettibone production from 1983... cut, pasted and reworked, with some 2010 DJ friendly features but trying to treat this pristine slice of soul with the respect it deserves! No compression or EQ were used on the main track, it was simply perfect as it was.

This is not a serious edit - Just a quick and very rough cut and paste job on an electro funk pop hit I stumbled upon and remembered from my school days listening to Streetsounds etc... Not really any overdubs or anything fancy added apart from a touch of tape delay a couple of blasts on the el cheapo laser sound effect keyring for the jump up crew. A bit of fun for the more adventurous DJs when you want to test how 80s your crowd can go.... A pretty good accompaniament to Junior's Mama Used To Say I reckon.
