Italian, Berlin-based producer Black Loops has been steadily building his reputation for soul-infused raw house grooves over the past few years on labels like Catz N’ Dogz Pets Recordings, Toy Tonics and Neovinyl, and here we see him joining forces once again with fellow Italian producer Innocent Soul for ‘High Cutz Vol.2’ on Rough Limited following ‘Vol.1’ which was released on Toy Tonics earlier this year.
‘The Lady’ kicks off the EP with organic percussion, bulbous bass tones and a thumping kicks running alongside an amalgamation of sweeping, filtered sample lines and hooky, dubbed-out vocal phrases.
‘From The Street’ follows, stripping things back to dusty drum sounds, floaty stab sequences and intermittent jazzy Rhodes and horn licks as a walking bass line carries the groove throughout. ‘Smoke Signals’ then rounds out the package with bumpy kicks and emotive strings samples at its core before the latter stages ease in funk-infused guitar licks and a choppy resonant bass line.

Bari's based Dj/Producer, @innocentsoulmusic brings his Disco, Italo and House influenced sound to French label @ht_france eight release. Having previously teamed up with Black Loops on a few acclaimed productions on labels such as Toy Tonics, Rough Limited and Defected’s sub-division Classic Music Company, his biggest impact has possibly been with his DJing. Having found success and notoriety as a resident in Barcelona’s club scene, Innocent Soul, makes a bigger name for himself as a producer with his latest release ‘Poison’. 

Opening up is title track ‘Poison’ a throwback to the 80’s dance music with an italo touch, driving percussion and mesmeric synths. This track highlights the diversity of Innocent Soul’s production style. The following track is “Don’t Make It’ a heart pounding, trance inducing progressive disco track with a prominent foot stomping kick drum, looping Afro-Caribbean percussion, rolling bassline and spacey synths. Next up on the release is a heater, ‘Feelin’ Love’ is a raw soulful house track with an infectious rhythm that gets your head nodding from the get go, beautiful female vocals with bright and uplifting melodies. If you’re looking for a feel good track this is it! Closing out the EP is ‘Bring Your Mind’ a bumpin loop oriented house track with hypnotic basslines, horns and vocals. The perfect after hours track.

[HT08] Innocent Soul - Poison EP (preview)

Among the new emerging DJs, surely Innocent Soul is not new to most.
Innocent Soul began his adventure in 2016 when he moved to Barcelona. It was there that he immediately gained a certain notoriety residing in some of the coolest clubs around, putting himself in the spotlight with his unpredictable sets, a perfect and balanced blend of disco, house and 90's music, and establishing himself as a party animal with the desire to move the crowd.
This ambition led him to the point of wanting to express himself also as a producer and create his own imprint, @strictlystreetsound, on which in 2018 he released his debut EP, 'Do u wanna dance??'.
As a producer, he tends to encapsulate funk, disco and samples in an explosion of color, delivering warm, disco-flavored house bombs.

After his first release on SSS, Innocent Soul teamed up with his friend Black Loops for a trilogy of releases on Toy Tonics (2018), Rough Limited (2019) and Stolen Goods Records (2022). Additionally, they jointly released on Defected's sub-division, Classic Music Company (2019).
2019 marked his return to his own label with the 'Inside Of You' EP, a disco-tinged 3-track house EP, including a dancefloor dub version by one of house music's 'teachers', Paul Johnson.
In 2020 he released a 4-track EP on Happiness Therapy, a leading French label. The record immediately sold out and it was appreciated by many colleagues.
The following year, '4 The Dancers' was released on Discodelic Records.

Despite his acclaimed productions, it's possible that he made his greatest impact as a DJ, distinguishing himself with sets that are as elegant as they are downright party-like. This infectious fascination has led him to ride various stages with some masters, as well as many DJs worthy of the name.
Late at night and early in the morning, he has given countless unforgettable moments to countless people.
