I started playing around with the chords of Heroes last night, and one thing lead to another and I added some strings. Then I thought I needed the main wailing guitar... 

Long story short, I recorded this just because I was having fun with it and just let it go wherever it wanted to. It was the first Bowie song that really hit me so that's where the D/G progression came from. This is my Twitter profiler that I had since before Blackstar came out.

A fun cover of Michael Jackson & Mick Jagger's State of Shock. I took elements from Michael's version with Freddie Mercury as well as the Jagger duet. Also took a bit of Tina Turner from Live Aid.

State Of Shock (The Jacksons Cover)

Wrote this back in 2009. Was only working part time and had a fair bit of time so threw a few tunes together. This was the first one. Recorded on a Boss 16 track and was the first time I really figured out kind of what to do with it. 

This is the first song  I wrote that I shared back in the day. Decided it should be the first up here. Was clearly feeling a heavy-pop vibe at the time. Guitar driven song and had recently discovered synth sounds. Overload.

Can't explain what it's about really. I will stress strongly, and often, that I am no Bob Dylan when it comes to lyrics.

The Scarecrow

Wrote this a few days after Michael Jackson died, as seen by the stolen song title. Very much inspired by the whole event. Was another one of the first few songs I recorded on the 16 track in 2009. I remember having a lot of fun making mistakes in the solo. One of the few songs I recorded with my Flying V. Really didn't know what I was doing with the drums. The keys were recorded on this really really old cheap keyboard. Liked the rough sound of them.
