The eyes that deceive us and the sound that's beneath us.

The eyes and ears, two of the most acute senses, can be deceptive in their ways. The eyes can show us illusions and visual tricks, causing us to see things that are not there. On the other hand, sound can be manipulated to create an alternate reality or disguise its trustworthy source. The idea of the eyes and ears deceiving us speaks to the concept that perception is not always reality and that our minds can be tricked into believing false information. This can have positive and negative implications, from creating art to spreading misinformation. Ultimately, it highlights the importance of being critically aware of our sensory experiences and questioning what we see and hear to truly understand the world around us.

Bio/
After an awakening experience listening to the last song of a bird genus native to Hawaii, Moho takes inspiration from endangered and extinct species to create deep and hypnotic sound journeys.

@aerogarcia lives in Budapest, Hungary. He has been interested in music since he was a child, and he played several instruments.

He started writing his own music in 2010 and currently he is working mainly as a DJ. In 2013, he and his friend founded the @euphonicmoments series of events, and with the same name, they also started a show on Radio Tilos (@ectilos). 

For this episode, he provides us a superb selection of deep house and dub techno, tinted with groovy aesthetics and with a very strong laminar flow.

Green algae are the most diverse of the algal groups, with at least 7000 species. Most of them are autotrophic and being such a type of organism, algae can carry out photosynthesis, just like the terrestrial plants. They contain chlorophyll, but do not possess true stem, roots, and leaves - the structures that characterize land plants.  As a rich source of proteins, vitamins and minerals, green algae have some well-known smoothing and hydrating benefits to human skin. They offer anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties and can protect against cell damage, in addition to an excellent smoothing effect.

Still, proliferation of green algae have increased in many places in Europe and north-American lakes - mainly due to the advent of industrial fertilizers and rapid urban growth - and is becoming an increasing issue, both for species living in the same environment and for humans. 
Indeed, when green algae multiply to high numbers, toxins may be produced causing mental health problems for people, domestic animals and stock that come into contact with the algae. Some collaborations are starting to happen between freshwater scientists and farmers to tackle the issue and strike a balance between maximizing crop yields and minimizing excess fertilizer application.

Session 29: Kønstantin Køst

For more than ten years now, Robin Koek and Nick Lapien have been creating music together as Artefakt. Since then, they have consistently released music at the intersections of ambient, IDM, techno, with LPs on Svreca’s Semantica, Delsin, and Delsin electronica sub-label Ann Aimee in addition to their many EPs.

Their next release is 6 track mini album “Floodplain”, landing on the impactful Spanish label Semantica next month. Ranging from brooding ambient on openers and closers “Fugacity” and “Floodplain”, to dance floor-oriented tribal on “Diorama”, “Natura” and “Delta”, the LP showcases the duo’s range and further illustrates their commitment to adopt techno “as an art-form rather than a genre.”

On “Natant”, we follow the squirming, tenacious bassline’s path that is at the forefront of the track, being amplified but never overshadowed by their signature style pad or sturdy kicks. The 3.5-minute track reaches its climax two-thirds of the way in before slowly beginning to disintegrate and letting the bassline say its last words.

“Floodplain” comes out on April 7th, 2023 as Semantica’s staggering 143rd release. The LP is available for purchase on vinyl (with the digital files included) via Bandcamp.

POOLcast 091 - Dr.Nojoke

For our first summer POOLcast in 2023 we have a collector set from our beloved Dr.Nojoke. Classical, dub, techno, ambient, jazz and electronic are carefree mixed together here, creating a marvel over and over again that fits perfectly into the POOLcast concept.

"Life During Wartime" - Part 2, is what Dr.Nojoke calls his collage. Part 1 was a little over a year ago ( https://soundcloud.com/thepoolberlin/poolcast-077-drnojoke ). Time has not stopped and continues to pass ceaselessly. Plans of that time have occurred, have been forgotten, have changed or have been postponed. If you try to recall this point in time, it will bear more or less fruit. Predictable, you might think, our existence, chained by the absolute determinism of time. The moment, a quantum of time. The moment as the purpose of life, no consideration, no foresight, nothing that makes our actions tangible and useful beyond the "self in the moment". Are causes and effects even comprehensible for us beyond the moment or is the timeless self just an unattainable fantasy? What does time do to us?
