The London-based DJ, producer, and BEFORE Records label owner caught our attention thanks to his meticulously crafted raw-sounding productions, and his tracks have been spun also by heavyweights like Enzo Siragusa (who welcomed him into the LOCUS gang), SIT, and NuZau to name a few. Rightly influenced by UK underground vibes, Ben's mission is to showcase some nasty minimal pumping beats via his label and his mix is all about this... Jump into the groove!

Lee is a born musician who started learning his craft very early, mastering guitar and bass in school, then later performing in progressive rock and jazz-rock bands and also writing music and lyrics. It was around this time when Lee expanded into music production and quickly headed towards the electronic scene, making his debut with Klik Records at the age of 19. In the years that followed, Lee was very productive and he established his unique analogue sound, which was quickly discovered by BodyParts Records, Elephant Moon Records, Taverna Tracks and recently at the legendary raum... musik.

About Chklte: As much a confectioner on the decks as he is in the studio, CHKLTE plays with a detailed delicateness that defies his towering stature. With vibrant, seductive blooms and deep, syrupy booms, his subtleties climb into the ear like tendrils. Influenced by his family’s involvement in music in Mexico City, a zealous 15-year-old Jonathan Lopez started sneaking into South Texas to DJ clubs after only a year of studying YouTube tutorials. Six years later, he arrived in Austin and joined forces with local movers and shakers Movement Collective, which opened doors for the rising star to play alongside both veterans and newcomers of the music community. After two years with the collective, Jonathan branched a solo project to showcase local and international artists, up-and-coming as well as established, curating minimal, techy, and funky sounds for his listeners. His label and podcast, Crowded Floor, celebrated its two-year anniversary in 2017, and in that time, CHKLTE also started running A&amp;R for Unscene Records.

The move from Jonathan Lopez to “CHKLTE” spurned a series of monthly releases throughout 2016 and 2017 on labels Tympanic, Unscene Records, Beatamin Recordings, Aquasound, and Denied Music. When he wasn’t producing, he played with MyBeatFix at WMC (2013), and since becoming an Austin resident, continues to be a regular guest at much respected local venues Plush, Kingdom, and Ethics. CHKLTE still revisits the trail he set in San Antonio, the Rio Grande Valley, and Mexico, as he also begins to venture to Vancouver, Denver, New Orleans, and soon relocating to Berlin in the spring of 2018— playing alongside world–renowned artists such as Lamache, Robin Ordell, Mihigh, Archie Hamilton, Priku, Andrey Pushkarev, Faster, Sepp, Vincentiulian, Varhat, Giammarco Orsini, John Dimas, Oshana, Chad Andrew &amp; Hector just to name a few. With the same immense drive, he had as a teen; CHKLTE continues to chase new horizons. - Berlin, Germany
