The stunning debut album from Fred Everything’s new project, All Is Well, 'A Break In Time' is an ambient album written during the lockdown as a sort of calming therapy / meditation exercise. The project quickly took form with a unique sonic identity and message inspired by this feeling isolation felt during that time. The album is about fragility, naivety, contemplating our vulnerability but also of our resilience and the feeling of alone/together.

This album might have taken less than a year to make, but it’s a culmination of influences drawing back to his early 90s growing up in Québec City. He was then known simply as Everything, performing live in Raves and Chill Out Room, armed with nothing but a 909, an SH-101 an Ensoniq EPS and a Quadraverb. His love for ambient music never faded. With early influences such as Carl Craig seminal “Landcruising”, Warp’s “Artificial Intelligence” and Black Dog Production “Bytes”, this album bridges the gap between here and there, now and then : where time stands still. This is a collaborative release from Compost Records and Drumpoet Community.

Deep Heads and the nice planet are back. This time with a Ødyzon remix edition of ‘minty’, which is a track taken from the forthcoming EP titled ‘solar ride’ from Deep Heads new signing, the nice planet.

If you’ve been tuned into Deep Heads recently, chances are you would have come across Ødyzon. He is an extremely talented young artist who had an incredible EP titled ‘analog’ that was released on the imprint back in August.

The remix from Ødyzon is a brilliant display of what this young recording artist is all about and we are presented with masterfully crafted and arranged compositions within the recording. The ambient and lo-fi nature of the track is accompanied with a healthy serving of slowed and reverbed frequencies and warm subs that surround the production, all arranged to the highest order.

Ødyzon’s music has been supported by some incredible names in the industry that include, Laurent Garnier, Attack Magazine, The Hype Magazine, Rolling Hype, Dreamscape, Lost Sounds & Ambient Music genre & many more taste makers in the Ambient scene.

The original mix of ‘Minty’ will be released very shortly, so keep an eye out for that.

@fredeverything: “This track has a special meaning to me. I wrote it thinking of a dear friend of mine who was going through a stormy time in his life but somehow seemed to have weathered that storm quickly and getting out of the tunnel. The track has a dark and chaotic vibe, but also a sense of hope and longing for better days. This was an important theme for me during the pandemic and the writing of this album. The balance between darkness and light. Unfortunately, our dear friend is no longer with us but he got to hear the track and the whole album while I was working on it. This whole album is dedicated to him."

About All Is Well

All Is Well is Frédéric Blais’s latest musical playground, known to the world of Electronic Music for the past 25 years as Fred Everything. He initially started this new project incognito with acclaimed releases on labels such as Drumpoet Community, Compost, Permanent Vacation, Mule Music and Prins Thomas’s Internasjonal. Under that alias, he also collaborated with Lauer and Martin Iveson (Atjazz). An exploration into a more electronic universe, this new platform allowed him to create freely within different genres free of expectations.

As a DJ, All Is Well performed in Paris with Trentemøller and Live at Mutek Festival in Montreal where he premiered the songs from his forthcoming album on Compost, A Break In Time. His releases have gained strong support from people like Dixon and Âme.

"Music For Mushrooms: A Soundtrack For The Psychedelic Practitioner" is a five hour, fully connected journey designed to musically guide a group or individual through an entire psilocybin experience, start to finish. 

This album aims to forge a new shamanic path — one that is birthed of our musical tools and the technology of our time while also honoring and inspired by the rich history of our human relationship to psychedelic plants and fungi. 

My album's compositional shape guides the arch of the ceremony experience. The music of the current psilocybin public research therapy playlists (like those offered by Johns Hopkins and Imperial College) is an amalgamation of tracks by different composers - none of the songs were originally intended for psilocybin. Further, most of these songs are comparatively short. The songs of "Music For Mushrooms: A Soundtrack For The Psychedelic Practitioner" have a slow and gentle growth, an organic progression that aligns with the waves of feeling and experience in the psychedelic journey. This progressive unfolding allows the journeyer to enter into sonic and emotional worlds gradually, to explore the psychic depths with peaceful transitions that allow for time to integrate the experience before moving into the following song or space. 

Additionally, "Music For Mushrooms" integrates original nature field recordings throughout the composition. Field recordings of “that which is still wild”, provides a soothing synthesis of nature into what might otherwise be a staid and sterile therapeutic setting. Sounds of nature can unlock memories, calm our senses, and contain a texture that welcomes our most ancient self home — whether a chorus of crickets or a gentle mountain breeze. 

As mentioned, "Music For Mushrooms: A Soundtrack For The Psychedelic Practitioner" was recorded and improvised live, inside ceremony.  In this way, it contains the ‘energy of the medicine’.  

The new album is intentionally conducive to the psychedelic experience in a variety of additional ways, like avoiding lyrical content so as not to spark the language centers of brain. The record employs falsetto vocalizations throughout, utilizing a non-lyrical language composed primarily of improvised vowels. This allows for the benefits of vocals without the potential language triggers of lyrics. With the live looping technology I employ harmonies and a full choir can develop. 

I’ve always intuitively felt that the solutions our world needs will not come from the top down. Rather, the answers we’ve been looking for will come from the inside out. By exploring our interior landscape to heal our traumas, to root out shame, to learn to love ourselves, we empower our ability to make positive changes that echo out into our lives and the world around us.
