Knowing that he had to tackle both Ibiza residencies and European festival gigs this summer, Doorly hunkered down in his L.A. studio earlier this year and got to work. Since then, he’s enjoyed a robust release schedule marked by a new track practically every week for the last two months. Riding high off his latest EP for Relief, he’s stacking an impressive two-track EP for Toolroom that will surely see him back in the charts. 

“Lustfahrt” has the kind of loose, swung drums and cheeky disco snippets that’ll be perfect for warming up dancefloors this summer, and the twisted synths during the builds have enough energy to make it a notable groover. We tried reaching him ahead of the release next week, but the man’s just played Hideout Festival in Croatia and had to book it back to Sankey’s in Ibiza with a pit stop last night in Dubrovnik; so we’ll let it slide this time.

Molding the morning-tipped “Gryning” into their own likeness, Shakarchi & Stranéus apply breathtaking brushstrokes in the form of hollow percussive hits and lofty, well-polished pads. They achieve sophistication while making sure things don’t land too left-field and scare away casual listeners. It’s a pristine piece, no doubt.

Track of the Day: Ishivu “Gryning” (Shakarchi & Stranéus  Remix)

Robert James is gearing up to make his debut on Steve Lawler’s esteemed VIVa imprint next week with three original cuts that could level any dancefloor they come across. Loaded on the second spot of the EP is “House Invader,” which sees high-ranking house duo Groove Armada firing off their terrace and dub mixes. The original is a monster of its own, armed with an infectious vocal hook and vivacious basslines that gnaw at your feet until you succumb to their pressure.

Eva Be has been a key figure on the development of Berlin underground club culture, going back to the 90s and her involvement with the Sonar Kollektiv crew that included the likes of Dixon, Ame and Jazzanova, to name a few. A highly talented producer and DJ, this EP on Poker Flat Wax showcases her skillful mastery of house music.

'Delight' kicks things off on the A side, a low slung groove with Chicago-esque percussion that pops out of the speakers. Some of Eva’s love for dub and reggae is also present - vocals and chord stabs echo and shimmer across the track.

'Breathe' is a little more  floor focussed - a hard knocking kick starts this off and the track develops into one of those deep, emotional and driving tracks that get dance floors into a serious states of ecstasy.

Flip the wax and 'Pills' is the third offering for this release - precise-yet-wonky drums, breakbeats, deep pads and synth lines that gel together into a perfect, hedonistic whole.
