Welcome to the second installment of our double-single series, Splits!

This go around, we call fresh-faced club wizard Luke Andy & Canadian nightlife messiahs, Smalltown DJs to the podium. Since both of these tracks are rooted in emotion, we wanted to allow our guys to illustrate the intentions behind their sonic tableaus, in their own words.

Luke Andy
"This track was created during a time when I was experiencing romance in my life, and I wanted to capture the essence of Oxytocin, which is the hormone released in our bodies when we fall in love. I combined a driving bass line, and a disco-inspired groove that helped me capture this vibe. This combination resulted in “Love Drug”, and it’s easily one of the tracks I’m most proud of (so far!)."

Smalltown DJs
"Seen You Before” was designed to take the dance floor on an emotional flow that releases in an optimistic wave at the very end. We had the chance to test the track on Good TV’s Twitch streams to some very positive feedback. It was inspiring. Then to see auditory admirals Justin Martin and Walker & Royce play it in live sets was a big highlight for us. We’re very excited for this song to officially come out, especially on Rules Don’t Apply!"

Dropping later this month on Stanton Warriors’ imprint Punks Music, ‘Lies’ is the debut collaboration between Dallas producer Left/Right and jACQ, packed with our Debut Transmission today, this killer remix from Billy Kenny and already picking up support from AC Slater, Claude VonStroke, Orbital Kry Wolf and Zinc.

Hailing from Dallas, Chris Lund aka Left/Right is an industry veteran with more than 15 years working as DJ, producer and promoter, with support for his music from a diverse range of artists including The Crystal Method, Massive Attack, My Nu Leng and Zed’s Dead. On ‘Lies’ he teams up with jACQ, a vocalist who has released music on some of the world’s largest and successful dance labels under various aliases, and has ghostwritten for a number of Grammy-winning and platinum-selling artists.

‘Lies’ opens with an atmospherically ominous loop, building towards the full vocal before dropping into growling broken beats and razor sharp percussion: a seething maelstrom of dark dance music that completely envelopes the senses.

On the remix, This Ain’t Bristol’s Billy Kenny continues his sensational run of form with a shuffling, bass heavy house cut that pummels its way into your subconscious, check it out below...

[NEST HQ Premiere] Billy Kenny & Kyle Watson - Wiggly Worm (Original Mix)

One of the things we appreciate most at Dirtybird is that our sound resonates and comes from all corners of the world. "Freak Out" is the new EP on Dirtybird Select from Mancodex, who hails from the complete opposite side of the globe of our California HQ, Russia. 

“Freak Out” features a low-pitched voice telling us ‘Don’t be Afraid’, but the colossal square wave bassline over uncomplicated beats has us thinking otherwise. By contrast, “Po-Li” traverses a bit more moody ground with wistful pads and melancholy voices over heavy bass tones.

Even though he’s thousands of miles away, Mancodex created two tracks that fit right here at home.

One of the best parts of doing these little write ups is that we look a bit closer into the artists we are signing and we learn a thing or two. From what i have learned today, @jworra is an absolute boss not only in the studio but on the decks as well. This may not be news for you who have recently seen her either at Dirtybird Campout, LIB Festival or even Mixmag lab with label boss Kyle Watson. But tbh i'm feeling left out... I WANNA SEE HER DJ!

Today we are showing off the side of J. Worra we know very well and thats her ability to write club ready records. YTO starts at full throttle with relentless energy, it's one of those track you mix in as a DJ and the crowd know exactly what your about to drop. *Crowd look at each other to pat themselves on the back to recognise their own musical knowledge* LOLs

If that wasn't enough YTO for you, fire starter OMNOM has jumped on the remix. This really showcases why we have fallen in love with him. Pushing beyond the boundaries of his typical sound and taking us on a journey into the abyss, his abyss.

Lastly we have Right All Night which i cant help but feel is an ode to her days of menacing the dance-floor in Chicago. Chi-town drums, dark synths, diva and scratch vocals all layered perfectly over a warm bass. This thing is a heater!
