Zay is a rapper, singer, and songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area. He grew up with his family in Vallejo, CA. A city with a long history of influential Hip Hop & R&B stars such as E-40, Mac Dre, H.E.R., and SOB X RBE to name a few. Zay grew up a fan of music, particularly Rap and R&B, but also had other musical influences.

Zay grew up in a Pentecostal Christian home where his parents would often play gospel music around the house. Artists such as Kirk Franklin, Fred Hammond, Mary Mary, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin and many more would ring loud throughout his childhood, even til now. These spiritual, bible based, artists would help shape Zay’s own way of life and musical style. Though gravitating towards rap, Zay still incorporates his faith into his writings.

Being from the urban community of Vallejo, in the Bay Area, gave Zay a style that his fellow millennials are familiar with and love. Zay is a rapper’s rapper and holds no punches when it comes to delivering heartfelt messages through song.
