Following swiftly on from Step-A-Side's 'Hollow' EP, Instigate returns in September showcasing a brand new selection of sounds constructed by the Sicilian based, tech orientated beat-smith Murk.

With prior releases on legendary underground labels such as Subaltern Records and Tuba under his belt, Murk has been steadily building his reputation over the last couple years through a string of high profile collaborations and remixes. Now delving into his debut solo release with the Consciousness EP, Murk supplies a techno inspired three track exploring complex rhythmic arrangements and the relationships between these patterns and the intense sub grooves surrounding them. 

Kicking off proceedings Murk opens the EP with the title track, 'Consciousness'. Tense pads laid over a steady high hat set the tone for the intro before the techy feels come in full effect at the drop. Fast paced rhythms interspersed with the purposeful resonant bass tones form the basis for the unwavering progression as the track builds up to completion. 'VeXt' steps up with an unparalleled air of tension. Atmosphere is the name of the game with this one as Murk pushes the production ever forward with tech bass arpeggios and a triplet based kick pattern. Snare delays add elements of dub effect merging influences to create an amalgam of styles resulting in a true dance floor weapon. The closing track of the EP, 'Vortex', follows a more traditional 140 blueprint in it's drum stylings. Incorporating trap percussion Murk succeeds in mixing things up leaving his own unique stamp on the sound. Never one to shy away from experimentation in synthesis some interesting textures have been concocted here bringing in a strong degree of variance complementing the repetition of the bass line. 

As an added bonus for the supporters of the Instigate and Murk we've arranged two online bonus tracks. 'Infectious' will be circulating as an INSTiFREE release ahead of the EP and 'Primal' will be a FKOF free download continuing our long-standing cooperation with the colossal FatKidOnFire blog.

Followers of Instigate will remember Rob's collaborative effort with Step-A-Side on the title track of the Hollow EP. He returns to the label with an EP packed entirely with his own productions showcasing a much more delicate, melodic side to the Extorted Minds sound. 'The Black Rose' is no exception to this, exuding ambience right from the start this atmospheric epic demonstrates the Guernsey based producers ability to construct intricate soundscapes. Akcept - Hidden [INSTiFRE007]

Since then this talented young producer has been making waves within the 140 community. Recent times have seen the build up of a strong musical relationship with fellow New Zealander ‘Headland’ and the two have been tearing up systems on their side of the world ever since. The two are fast becoming the ones to watch within the New Zealand scene amongst heavy hitters like Truth, Perverse and Olie Bassweight.

Since we first heard of Alex he’s been carving out his own unique rhythm based heavily on the deeper, dubber side of the tech dubstep sound. This EP stands true to that statement, showcasing the sub heavy swung beats that are gaining him recognition across the globe.

The ‘Forgotten EP’ is absolutely awash with the kind of dub delays, sub swells and scattered offbeat rhythms expected from a release set to leave such an impact on the ‘future dub’ scene. Akcept has truly come into his own with a fresh wave of creativity inspired by the sounds which bore the origins of what we now call Dubstep.

‘Transit’ is the mover and shaker of the EP with rolling 808 subs leaving a deep impact on the listener, the sound of a ticking clock is one of the signatures on this track while silky smooth reverberated guitar licks keep things fresh on the top end. 

Watch out for the pitch bending sub madness delivered by ‘Madman’. This track has some serious swing accented by dub bleeps and the backing bongo rhythms. 

The title track of the EP ‘Forgotten’ is marked by it’s notably eerie speech samples and mid-eastern instrumentation. Delays on the drums play a key part in the in the rhythmic arrangement but it’s the melodies on this one that will stay running through your head. 

A strong future lies ahead for Akcept, which will hopefully see more releases from himself on Instigate Recordings.

As we reach our final release of the year we want to take the time to say a big thank you to all the supporters new and old. Without you guys, and not forgetting the artists we have featured this year, Instigate Recordings would not be what it is today.

INSTi011 comes from none other then one half of the production duo Valac. His debut release on Instigate showcases a more technical side to his productions and over the last few months we have seen Luke (Binary) go from strength to strength, landing himself a deal with the highly regarded Encrypted Audio. Since his first outing with his solo project on ENC - Luke has proven his talents as a producer by not limiting himself to just one style around the 140 tempo range. His release with us showcases some of the earlier stages of his productions as Binary, focusing on that minimal heavy, bass driven tech style and swung percussion with nail bitting reese design.

Raised in Denver, Colorado - Luke first found dubstep through and early affiliation with the well known bass music events organisation Sub.Mission. His introduction to DJing came in his later school years, through involvement in local DJ competitions. It wasn’t long until he caught the production bug and citing influences such as Distance, Plastician, Toasty, Pinch and Biome we can see how his formative years in producing have taken him to the styles he’s pushing out today. 

Tech, triplets, tension and trauma all describe the sounds that form the Deprivation EP, one for the dark room heads this release is sure to cause some damage on dance floors worldwide. Featuring a collaboration with the rising star in the deep scene, Dillard - Binary shows versatility in repetition, crafting a beautifully evolving collection of tracks, each one showcasing a different vibe and style while remaining in the same vein

We take the next step into the year with our second release of 2017 from Pierre Myosis’ new established alias Pete Saturn. Formally known as ’Owl’ for his ambient tones and textures, Pierre focuses on this new alias to branch out within the dubstep spectrum. Maintaining a similar style and structure from this ‘Owl’ project, Pierre proves that new tempo territories do not scare him to experiment with this existing sound and approach a new audience of listeners. Beginning his journey within electronic music in 2009 with Clearlight, under the title Glÿph. Taking influence from all  styles, he particularly embarks on melancholic, dark, deep sounds.

These two dangerous up and coming artists first started their adventure together as duo ‘Dub Kulcha’. The two artists have been constructing this project over the past year, which contains a range of different tempos and melodies.

As we move into our second EP release of the year we just liked to say a be thank you to everyone supporting the artists on the label during these stressful times due to the pandemic around the world. 

We’d like to reveal the sounds of L.A brothers Ahkur & Tetrad. The two brothers have come together and engineered a collaboration EP to destroy all live streams entitled ‘Moral Terror’ 

Both Dillon & Cheyne Bush are no newcomers to the scene, both landing releases of familiar labels such as Foundation Audio, Silent Motion, Gourmet Beats & ZamZam Sounds to name a few. Growing up together their influences bounced off one another, while gradually leaning towards their own signature styles of creativity. While Ahkur engaged in the Southern California underground rave scene, Tetrad grew up experimenting with punk, metalcore and ska bands, the brothers combined their influences together and took the first step into music production. 

When diving into the Moral Terror EP, it clearly shows which road each artist went down to path their own style. As Ahkur creates a combination of deep cinematic textures and experimental sound design, while Tetrad fabricates on heavy dubbed basslines intertwined with eery soundscapes.

The two brothers are fast becoming huge icons within the ever growing American dubstep scene.

As we move into our 4th release of the year, we'd like to announce no other than the man
himself Mungk.

Mungk is no stranger to the dubstep community having contributed to the scene with his outstanding efforts, proving that he is one of the biggest rising producers this year so far.

Most of you would have heard of Mungk by now, if not at least seen his name featured on various releases and remixes due to his breakthrough year of 2019.

Currently based in Leeds (UK), Mungk has clearly crafted his own unique sound, experimenting with various middle eastern instruments while constructing fluttery swung drum patterns with big crunching snares. Integrating different styles of smooth pulsating basslines with perfect floaty melodies which always seem to give a sense of meditation, essentially creating a sphere of zen.

Having secured himself several releases this year so far, Mungk joins the Instigate Family with a particular concept behind his productions. Drawing inspiration from different styles and techniques from popular electronic music. Experimenting with old school rave samples to analog synth sounds while combining this own unique twist to them with his hard hitting 808 basses and melodic synth endeavors.

The time has come to unleash the sounds of our next release which has been in the works for a while now. No other than rising producer Lampa. 

Hailing from Salford, Manchester Lampa has been extremely busy so far this year, using his lockdown time wisely. Releasing 4 Solo Bandcamp EPs and securing a huge collaboration track with Biome & Cartridge of the famous Deep, Dark & Dangerous. Lampa has tailored his signature sound and production style which aligns with the Instigate roster perfectly. Lampa’s EP brings full on deep dungeon vibes featuring collaborations from Enigma, Gnasha and B-Say on remix duties.

Enigma, co-founder of a newly established label Off-License Records switches his focus from this normal territory of 174 to 140bpm to partner up with Lampa on their track ‘The Details’. 

Gnasha from Leeds, is really starting to show her colours within the 140 spectrum. Landing herself two forthcoming releases on Foto Sounds and ourselves, Instigate Recordings. Her collaboration with Lampa ‘Highlander’ has been doing the rounds over the past few months.

Returning to the label once again is B-Say. Recently concentrating his style towards the more Dub, Reggae sound with his alias B-Dread, B-Say proves that he is very versatile as he steps back into his old shoes with his remix of ‘Matrimony’
