This chilean-swiss trio is adept of a delicate minimalism, drawing colors, tones, and sometimes even a few seconds of melodies, from folk sources.
An experimental inspiration and reinterpretation stretched to the extreme, a ghostly, strange, peaceful and acoustic evocation.
Collaborating since 2014, the group composed this new serie of short pieces during two residencies in Osorno and Geneva during the spring 2019.
Crisitan Alvear is an eminent figure of the chilean scene, having play many composers such as Micheal Pisaro, Catherine Lamb, Jurg Frey, etc, gaining a strong international respect.
Cyril Bondi and d'incise, minds behind the Insub.label and orchestra, are tireless and radical explorers of the experimental field, building a web of collaborations since 15 years.

Composed by the trio during two residencies (january 2019 at Centro Cultural Sofia Hott, Osorno, Chile & may 2019, Insub.studio, Geneva, Switzlerand) with the support of COINCIDENCIA - Cultural Exchanges [Pro Helvetia].

"« Assemblée, relâche, réjouissance, parade », or another long, unspeakable, french, title (that would somehow translate as » Assembly, pause, rejoicing, parade »). Words that conjure ideas of a music used in public and social rituals. The two distinct pieces experiment with the re-injection of music into the experimental area. Do not see anything pretentious about it, it is rather a very personnal path, in the sens, among others, to not forbid certain aspects of music to make appearances, making bridges between conceptuality and simplicity.
The first part, « L’Anglard de St-Donat », is constructed aroud a mazurka tune, a tradional dance from center-France, played by Alfred Mouret, after his father François « L’Anglard ». But the four short « songs » are not to be seen as a reinterpreations (they’re certainly not danceable), rather as a basis for d’incise’s own research. Solid drones and reccurent structres are built with recordings of bowed and strucked metal objects and (sounds of various) instruments make counterpoints and quasi melodic lines.
Then in « Le désir » the strategy is mirrored, electronics (detuned organs) make the rigide, and slightly akward, context for the bowed metal sticks – tuned in relation to the electronic – to be semi-improvised and take a sort of soloist position – unstabilities of both the objects and the gestures sudenly become open to interpreations and expressions. This piece is one of d’incise‘s actual solo
live performance."

NEF is the trio consisting of Pascal Battus (rotating surfaces), Bertrand Gauguet (alto saxophone) and Rodolphe Loubatière (snare drum).
And those three more than experienced improvisors deliver us a rafinate set of electroacoustic music, of -almost- pure abstractization of the instruments. 
A poetic of the whispers, whirrs and mecanical micro-mouvements.

Opening this serie, Michael Pisaro-Liu, emminent member of the Wandelweiser composers collective & residing and teaching in Los Angeles, delivered a score where words and (love) letters transform into notes,  revealing in their dialog a delicat conterpoint, two voices slightly appart at the begining get soflty intertwined in the last third. Philippe Lauzier, clarinetist, improvisors and sound artist, from Montreal, precisely fomulated its reading on its intruments while d'incise, obstinate sound explorer and co-founder of Insub, reincarnated the score, and its electronic interpretation, by plugging it into various non-neutral, tenderly distorting, loudspeakers.

Sarah Hennies, american composer but also percussionist, combines and recombines sounds, sounds of instruments which by their assemblies create and recreate again and again small autonomous worlds.
As she states, she writes what she wants to hear, and she does it wonderfully, diluting the notion of time, as if you could listen to her music indefinitely.
Mike Majkowski and Cyril Bondi, with their usual rigor and attention to detail, are a perfect pair to bring this intention to our ears.

With Jürg Frey, a now emblematic Swiss composer of the Wandelweiser movement, it is just the shadow of the strings that emerge from the silence, but with a lightness that does not deceive the immense depth of his music. And his piece, which concludes the "distances" serie, wonderfully abolishes the separation between the musicians by its obvious presence touching us.

Anouck Genthon and Pierre-Yves Martel are both talented improvisers, the first alongside Jacques Demierre, the other with Carl-Ludwig Hübsch and Philippe Zoubek, for instance. They give here life to the score with accuracy and to those appearances of sustained notes which sometimes become evocation of melodies that are specific to Jürg Frey's music.

INSUB. is a label, a netlabel and a concert organisation based in Geneva, CH.
It covers the fields of experimental, electroacoustic, improvised & composed musics.
The Records section, started in 2013, has the from of Pay Per Download only releases, accompanied by a physical print containing textes, scores, etc, thought has an echo, or a reminder, of the digitalised music.
The netlabel offers free download for every releases, but some are however available in classical physical format (cd, cdr, LP).
The concerts happens here and there in Geneva, and the Insub Meta Orchestra is a very large ensemble.
These activities has been develloped since 2006, formely under the « Insubordinations » label.
