Singular is back, metamorphosed and stronger than ever with the single ‘Öst’ from their upcoming album ’Tre’.

This full-throttle IDM-banger is flanked by four splendid remixes from Swedish electronic legends Andreas Tilliander and Rivet and two rising stars: Catterfly and Nano Ona.

Öst (’East’ in Swedish) is an eclectic and heavy dance track with glitchy, breaky beats, a pulsating bass line and massive buildups. Topping the track off are direct yet enigmatic vocals and a crystalline and ethereal melody. Think of a combination of Underworld, Oneohtrix Point Never and Jon Hopkins.

Singular is a loosely connected creative collective based in Malmö, Sweden. Simultaneously unknown and familiar, Singular may appear obscure and mysterious, but its presence is nonetheless rock solid.

Singular’s musical output is at once both contemporary and timeless, often featuring a fusion of generous portions of acoustic piano and intricate synthetic components. The album ‘Två’ was released in 2019 on Lamour Records, followed by the EP ’Berlin’ and a string of singular singles.

It was recorded late night on my home setup on Vinyl + CDJs and I tried to use echo to blend textures and ambiences instead of going for a straight ‘bpm mix’.."

curator Alexander Pehlemann: "Bad Schandau, located near Dresden on the Elbe, was the GDR border crossing station en route to Hungary by train. On the return journey, Bad Schandau often proved to be a bottleneck, when guards confiscated Western records purchased in Budapest, a place of longing regarding subcultural products, because of suspected anti-socialist content.
Naming a project like an express train speeding between places and times as cultural transfer, connecting the sounds of the 1980s with those of today, after that (non-)place was obvious, primarily because the Hungarian post-punk band A. E. Bizottság immortalized Bad Schandau in a song, albeit with an additional “a.” Their LP Jégkrémbalett, released in 1984 on Hungarian state label Start and on which “Ba(a)d Schandau” can be found, was the departure point of the idea to create "Art Pop Tribute" cover versions. [...]"

Fire It Up

Connecting the dots is what drives Runner. Pushing, playing & promoting the low end continuum from his 90s days in the UK all the way to today’s landscape and into the future. Constantly 'going back to go forward' through his #SubbedOut & #237Sessions on @Paranoise & @stegi-radio respectively, the one-off block parties in the ancient city under his banner, the legacy with Dimensions Festival launches in Athens & reppin' the Swamp81 family in the city. 

In the last few years we find him setting up a variety of significant projects with his friends that by the end of 2017 brought us #Shuffle, the party mostly based on ‘superior blend’ DJs mainly from the UK. Josey Rebelle, Jon K, Shanti Celeste, A Made Up Sound, Peach combined with local talent have rumbled the foyer of Mikrokosmos cinema,  #Shuffle's spiritual home. Finally to be able to shake the Romantso basement with the @Swamp81 take over of Chunky, Loefah & Sumgii in 28th of Feb 2020, just-before-everything-shut-down is pure gold. 

Cue in 4 yrs and a pandemic later, it is now 2024 and radio, DJing & pushing the envelope with like minded cats in and out of the city helps to fight attention deficits and focus on the music & the people first & foremost
