Ever since we released "Without Hesitation," the lead single from Inverse Universe's brand new EP, New Clear Energy, which we're premiering today, we've been anticipating the release of this triumphant 5-track electro soul and swing package.

Plenty of retro instrumentations including honky tonk pianny and throwback slide introduce the uninitiated to the Inverse Universe ... umm... universe. Throw on your dusty cowboy hat and strap on your jetpack, because this is future music made by a couple of leatherbound, steampunk time-travelers cruising through musty record bins in forgotten corners of the world.

Between "Summer Swing" and "Blue Winter Slide," we see the seasonal affective disorder of most Chicago acts breaking through the crusty frost and springing into life with some deep, knee-breaking grooves. Plenty of bass follows through, and the Atmosphere remix is icing on the cake for a handful of fun cuts.

The pair makes its debut this weekend at Concord Music Hall, for the big Manic Focus release party featuring Wick-it The Instigator and Muzzy. They'll also be hitting Dabroots in Colorado 4/18-4/20 and head to Kentucky for Paradise Music Festival in July.

Contemporary R&B singer/songwriter Rickie Mikiela says "Hello" to the world with her debut single. 

Rickie Mikiela, a classically trained contemporary R&B singer/songwriter, released her debut single "Hello", on December 20th, 2016. 

"Hello" is a song about a girl missing her opportunity to say hi to a guy she's been watching.

"It's out of character not to say hello for this girl, there's something about this guy that makes her shy". - Rickie Mikiela

"Traditionally" the guy is "supposed" to make the first move, but in this case the girl is contemplating going up and saying hello. What holds her back s the fear of rejection, a feeling feared by many. 

In the end, she misses her opportunity to say hello, because another confident girl came up first. However, this pushes her to go for it next time. 

In this song, the traditional gender roles are reversed. "I want people to just be people and I feel that the song shows that the roles can be shared". - Rickie 

Rickie has been singing since she was 7. She started singing opera and mariachi music, performing at local and regional shows in Northern California. This developed a surprisingly powerful voice for a small 5'0 package. Be on the lookout for more music from her!
