Welcoming Supersanity (Ada Kaleh) as the 38th guest on the inTension Podcast!

Ada Kaleh is a musician and composer based in Bucharest, Romania and currently releasing forward thinking aesthetics on legendary labels R&S Records (Aphex Twin, Nils Frahm, the pioneers of Techno: Derrick May, Juan Atkins & Kevin Saunderson; Kenny Larkin, Joey Beltram, The Future Sound of London, James Blake, Tale of Us, Richie Hawtin, etc) and its ambient division Apollo Records (The Orb, Sun Electric, Biosphere, Cabaret Voiltaire, etc), widely considered as the labels responsible for bringing Techno to Europe. He's been releasing music for over 20 years
under various aliases, but his current focus is on the Ada Kaleh alias, and the more recent techno persona, Supersanity.

Ignoring genre boundaries, his music combines hypnotic rhythms with rich, naturally evolving sounds that invite the listener into a parallel world. Appropriately enough his releases are often inspired by literal and metaphorical trips and mystic experiences. Questioning the linear nature of time, each composition guides the listener though whirling soundscapes, DMT realms and time loops, creating an aural safe space in which to explore. Propelled by a passion for 60's & 70's spiritual jazz, afro-beats and other psychedelic inducing textures, Ada Kaleh describes his recent musical endeavors as Quantum Techno.
His most recent release on R&S Records titled "Unravelling", featuring the vocals of Fela Kuti at his most potent, also includes a performance from Eric Leeds, the American saxophone player most noted for his work alongside Prince, both in the studio and as part of his touring band.

During the span of two decades as a performer, Ada Kaleh has played venues all around the globe, including iconic places who have been at the forefront of techno culture since the early '90s such as: Tresor Berlin, Rex Club Paris, Fuse Brussels, Culture Box Copenhagen, Supermarket Zurich, Pacha Ibiza, Goa Rome, the now defunct Output in New York and countless other esteemed clubs, warehouses and festivals.

His current efforts are dedicated to unifying all relevant, like-minded entities and setting the foundation of a true, free of gate-keeping and functional techno scene in Bucharest and all around Romania, aiming at creating a safe, healthy and inclusive environment, promoting tolerance and bringing together all open minded people, the curious, the outcasts, the occasional hedonists and all those passionate about the elegant side of techno and raw, hypnotic rhythms; regardless of age, beliefs, appearance or orientations.

1. How and where was the mix recorded?
I recorded the mix in Lisbon, my current home. It was a breeze selecting tracks from my collection, adding a touch of the city's vibrant energy to the mix.

2. Can you tell us about the idea behind the mix?

Sure! The idea behind the mix was to capture the essence of spring with a blend of new and unreleased tracks. I wanted to create a fresh and uplifting vibe that resonates with the blooming atmosphere of the season.

3. What are you up to next? Projects, ideas…

I'm thrilled about the upcoming release on Luck of Access, featuring the flawless work of my friend and incredible producer, Stojche. I had the pleasure of remixing one of his tracks, and I can't wait for everyone to hear it. Stay tuned.

4. Lastly, for you what is Dance, Shake, Swing!?

Haha, it's definitely an awesome journey that is accessible to everyone who wants it. The elevation of spirit and perfect rhythms for the feet!
