"Lost in the haze of the dimly lit space, my mind drifted through the smoky depths, entranced by the pulsating rhythms. Deep bass frequencies reverberated through the air, accompanied by a cascade of melodies that seemed to stretch out endlessly. At the helm, as if guided by the hands of a surgeon, the rhythm of the night was expertly shaped, imprinting itself upon my consciousness. It was a HIRU night, its essence seared into the fabric of my being."

Svreca, hailing from Madrid, is a prominent DJ and the mastermind behind Semantica (@semantica-records), a renowned techno label. His sets are celebrated for their experimental nature and slow evolution, blending elements of both listening and club music without concern for current trends. Whether it's his own productions or those he commissions, Svreca consistently maintains a high standard of quality. He's a prominent figure on the global techno circuit, gracing iconic venues such as Tresor and Berghain, as well as featuring at festivals worldwide, including the prestigious Labyrinth Festival in Japan. Semantica has served as a platform for heavyweight artists such as Surgeon, Oscar Mulero, Regis, and Donato Dozzy, as well as emerging talents like Acronym, Stanislav Tolkachev, Abdulla Rashim, Shifted, and Varg, among others. Svreca has been sharpening his vision through his own label, while also collaborating and recording for esteemed labels like Jealous God, Warm Up Recordings, and Spazio Disponibile.

This HOCast refers to the first hour of the DJ set during the closing set of the HIRU night.

There are few musicians who manage to explore the convergence between techno and experimental as successfully as David Letellier.
Known as Kangding Ray, he has been producing for almost a decade, releasing his music exclusively on Raster-Noton and Stroboscopic Artefacts.
The aesthetic domains of these two labels epitomizes Kangding Ray’s complex sound—it’s an aesthetic that tests boundaries, evolving tirelessly in its exploration of texture, rhythm, and sound design.
Letellier’s foundations in rock and musique concrete give his music a vitality and uniqueness that has won fans the world over, from discerning avant-garde–electronica listeners, all the way to devoted clubbers.
KR has also been known for remixing artists such as Battles on Warp, Ben Frost on Mute, or Inigo Kennedy on Token.
Those who have been following Letellier since his debut album, 2006’s Stabil, will recognize not only his meticulous and constantly developing approach to sound design, but also the conceptual gravity behind his releases.
Through a string of recent EP’s and albums, culminating with the critically acclaimed “Solens Arc”, KR showed his ability to keep his artistic approach while delivering direct and powerful club-leaning tracks and darkly cinematic soundscapes. On 2015’s “Cory Arcane”, he pushed the limits of his sound even further, relinquishing standard rhythmic structures and conventional tonal models, he delivered what is perhaps his most sophisticated release yet; a raw and visceral universe, allowing a more fluid dialogue between soul and machines.
The forthcoming “HYPER OPAL MANTIS” for Stroboscopic Artefacts opens a new era for Kangding Ray, where he will explore the tension between the natural and artificial, the body and mind, which are central themes in electronic music in general, and Techno in particular. The means of creation, focused around technology and interactions with machines, contrast with the emotional response to sound, the mystical ritual of collective dancing, and the ethos of liberation and tolerance embedded in the culture it has produced.
As he describes it himself in a recent interview : “I’ve been evolving since a couple of years at the outer fringes of the club culture, where it overlaps with different experimental and avant-garde genres. While i entend to continue to explore that zone as a free maverick, i also wanted to give something back to the scene, something strong, beautiful and functional at the same time, while retaining enough personality to be exciting.”

The 40th mix in our series comes from Manchester-based duo Blasha & Allatt. As two of four founding members of Meat Free, Steffi and Tash have made a vital contribution to their adopted city’s dance music culture over the last five years and are now also starting to make a real name for themselves as DJs both around the UK and in Europe. Takaaki는 빠르게 이 새로운 사운드에 중독되기 시작하였으며, 1994년부터는 그의 고향인 북일본 지역에서 스스로 테크노 파티를 만들며 빠르게 자신의 이름을 알려나가기 시작했다. 1996년, 자신만의 사운드를 트랙으로 만들기로 결심하면서 발표한 Takaaki Itoh의 순수한 언더그라운드 테크노 음악은, 이전까지 유럽에서 들어보지 못했던 새로운 스타일의 일본 언더그라운드 테크노로 각인되기 시작하였고, 그는 곧 일본 전역과 유럽에서 큰 사랑을 받기 시작하며 가장 존경받는 일본 언더그라운드 디제이로 인식되기 시작했다. 2001년, 유럽으로 활동무대를 옮긴 Takaaki는 Berghain, Tresor와 같은 대형 테크노 클럽들과 Awakenings페스티벌 같은 무대에서 플레이하며 전 세계 프로모터들과 파티피플들의 큰 사랑을 받기 시작했다. 이후 자신의 레이블 Wols를 시작하며 한 단계 더 앞으로 나아간 Takaaki Itoh는, 현재 새로운 테크노 세대의 선두주자로서 일본과 유럽을 오가며 활발한 활동들을 보이고 있다.

Techno hit Japan hard in the early 1990s.Takaaki Itoh was quickly impressed and intrigued with this new sound. The unique style of beats revealed the gateway to a new world of underground music in Japan - something he had never heard before. 
in 1994,Takaaki began to organize his own techno parties in his home of northern Japan. By providing a fantastic lineup, his parties quickly became a success.
In 1996, having decided that it was time to start making his own tracks, His Japanese style of techno was pure, unique and underground - nothing that had been heard before in Europe. His reputation and popularity quickly spread all over the continent. He was becoming recognized as Japan's most underground and respected techno DJ. As of 2001 he was getting offers to perform at large clubs and festivals all over Europe, like awakenings,berghain,tresor. Promoters wanting him, party people loving him, Takaaki Itoh took the next step and started his own label Wols. Passion led to success and he became recognized as the top of the next generation of techno music.
