10 years ago Carlos declared that there must be truth in advertising and pushed the original leaky warehouse No Way Back til 5 PM the next day. He has constantly evolved as a DJ, he always plays with great gravitas to whatever the given context. Here we find Carlos Souffront in his indigenous habitat - at No Way Back 2016 in the Ballroom of the Tangent Gallery, playing after Patrick Russell and before Derek Plaslaiko.

Welcoming back Melbourne DJ Kate Miller who’s been living in Berlin since 2011. Proving herself at the controls of ://about blank, Panorama Bar, Stattbad etc, she’s now the curator and resident for quarterly party @oscillat_e (this month’s edition boasts an epic lineup of Bufiman, Izabel, Johanna Knutsson, Karen Gwyer and Objekt). She also presents two shows alongside Knutsson on Lichtenberg station Cashmere Radio – broadcasting pensive electronics as Low Power FM and club NRG as High Power FM. Here she’s given us more of the latter, a mangled mix of electro, leftfield and broken techno.

Life films us exactly. Our experience of it, though, lies beyond images and descriptions. Emotions, coming in irrational flashes, are non-figurable. We lose our little connection to them very quickly. We look for forms with this in mind : so they can take us to meet the subconscious. Chain reaction was a sublabel of Basic Channel founded in 1995. Peter Kuschnereit aka Substance, René Löwe aka Vainqueur, Torsten Pröfrock aka Various artists and Resilent, Andy Mellwig, Thomas Köner aka Porter Ricks, Gerhard Behles, Robert Henke, Torsten Pröfrock aka Monolake formed some of the artists of the now defunkt label.

Chain reactions is a mix tribute to the label / 1995-2003, it is influenced by glitch techno, dub and ambient. Sounds of CR are captured within tiny fragments of time and then within one’s mindspace. I think it’s important to play this mix on a decent system so you can really hear and feel the interactions between the delays, the warm basslines and the soundscapes that surrounds them.

Tempered by years of sweat in the US rave and club circuit, Paul Fleetwood (@fleet412) has steadily built a reputation as a DJ who explores the shuffling grooves of techno, electro, acid and beyond. 

He currently resides in Denver but is originally from Pittsburgh, where he is a co-founder and resident of world renowned weekly party Hot Mass (@hot-mass).

As a DJ he connects the dots between deep, propulsive techno, trippy experimental rhythms and intergalactic synth led electro jams. His approach to selecting and mixing has featured in online mixes for Buttons, Silent Season, Mysteries of the Deep, Doc Sleep's Jacktone Radio, and now The Bunker New York.

Fleetwood has played to audiences across the Midwest predominantly at DIY parties but also in clubs such as Chicago's Smartbar, Detroit's Tangent Gallery, Washington DC's Flash, and further afield at Berlin's Griessmuehle and ://about blank. Wherever he plays, he utilizes his lifelong musical curatorial ear and penchant for fanatical record digging to bring fervor to dancefloors across the world.

Lawrence Le Doux takes the listener on a journey across the astral plane over the sixty-six minutes of his Bleep mix, joining the dots between verdant Balearic house, techno thumpers, buoyant New Beat and pastoral IDM productions. Beginning with an unreleased track of his own, Le Doux gradually increases the pace as the mix progresses - while the opening strait delivers questing mid-paced cuts from the likes of K-Lone and Aleksi Perälä, things have become distinctly hi-NRG as the hour-mark homes into view. Le Doux guides the listener safely into land at the close, rounding things out with INTe*ra’s stargazing techno jam ‘463’.
