Since I'm in love with Brazil and Brazilian music, I'm so happy that I can share with you this week's guest mix from DJ, producer, and label manager Augusto Oliviani aka Trepanado, hailing from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Trepanado is the pseudonym of Augusto Olivani, one of the founders and current commander of the Selvagem party and also the head of the Selva Discos label. After 10 years ruling Brazil, he just moved his base to Lyon, France, looking for new sunsets and new dawns.

Selvagem is one of the most important and influential dance music labels in Brazil and Latin America, with more than one decade year history, transforming and deepening the electronic music scene in the continent with its anarchic approach that mixes obscure house, techno, soul, jazz and practically any musical genre possible.

Focusing on rare and under-the-radar Brazilian records, Trepanado lives and breathes free-associative thinking, channeling his music with a truly anarchic approach - whether it's disco, house, funk, soul, or techno, this DJ believes in blending the best bits of different cultures into a unique flow.

One of the greatest music diggers of the world electronic music scene, playing for more than 10 years and with a repertoire and a technique worthy of impressing the greatest music aficionados, Trepanado has already performed not only at Selvagem’s parties (and in the legendary Carnival Party in Rio), but also throughout Brazil and in Latin American in countries such as Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, and Mexico. 
With 5 European and American tours, he has also been present at events and clubs such as Dekmantel Amsterdam, Full Moon Festival in New York, Calvi on the Rocks, Concrete Paris, Sub Club (Glasgow), and Zukunft (Zurich).

Trepanado himself has also put out a vital compilation called Street Soul Brasil through New York’s Hello Sailor label, that spotlighted Brazil's Street Soul sound of the late eighties and early nineties.

One of the things that we love the most from the beloved berliner underground is the huge quantity of unknown/underrated djs that scene provides. The ones we decided to move here we always get surprised about dj's that one can see at the most filthy and infamous venues, being not strcktly necessary to go to Panorama Bar to see a nice set.

We introduce you this month to EXOTIKA, good friend and great selector. Joan Bernat the guy behind the name, is one of those obsessed diggers that are always in the search of the perfect beat and the warmest vibe. Balearic, downtempo, protohouse and everything in between is the leitmotif of the catalonian dj.

Member of the amazing collective "Ceremony", one of the hottest underground parties in Berlin, along with Nirel Nica, Llupe and Rafa (who already signed an MM Cast last year)

With my Rhythm Control mix I wanted to explore a slightly different sound than what people know me for in clubs, and create something that sounds timeless. I've drawn inspiration from different places in time and different styles, and I saw this as a way for me to collect into one place all of those more eclectic influences that continue to inspire me. Most of all this is a mix of slow jams and indie rock to bring some heat in on those cold cold winter nights.

Seth Troxler - Rhythm Control Mix (FREE DOWNLOAD)

Halle’s dynamic duo, Monkey Safari return to their beloved Hommage imprint after being away from the label for more then a year. With their beautifully crafted “Cranes” release they will surely make up for their long absence in a big way. Even looking at the names of the remixers in charge will leave every music lover very excited.

“Cranes” takes it’s time before introducing the bass drum, a bit more then two minutes to be exact. Monkey Safari get you in the mood with laid back, morphing spheric sounds and teasing percussion. The heavenly, slightly pitched down vocal will trigger a whole array of emotions before the journey even begins. Acoustic sounds combined with sleek piano chords and well placed break downs will make “Cranes” stay in your favorites list for months to come.

Everybody’s darling Kölsch is presenting the first remix. Kölsch is changing up the low frequencies as he adds layers of synthesizer progressions and a heavier bass drum. Sharp percussion and saw tooth sounds are drilling themselves through over ten minutes of musical bliss, but always leave enough space for the vocal to breath. 

Wolf + Lamb are closing out the release with their funk injected version. The lively acoustic drum programming breathes a different life into the track and takes it to a whole nother level. They provide “Cranes” with an overall more uplifting feel.
