International Chromies Vol.15 is out today

Like most people, we are deeply distressed by the ongoing situation in Gaza. Despite a deep sense of hopelessness, we, as artists, feel compelled to do what we can despite how unimpactful it might feel to us. The label made a donation to Medical Aid for Palestinians last year but as it became increasingly obvious the conflict was not going to end soon we decided to do this fundraiser.
 
Any money raised will be split between MSF and, initially, a fund to raise money needed to evacuate a family with connection to some friends of ours, and gain them safe haven in Egypt.

As the aid landscape evolves and certain charities emerge to be more helpful, we pledge to adapt and allocate our donations accordingly. Our initial contribution will support Wafaa's family's exit from Gaza through their GoFundMe campaign. 

We hope for an immediate ceasefire to halt what has clearly become a genocide.

We extend our gratitude to our incredible artists for their amazing tracks and to Mothanna Hussein for this very special cover art. Jensen Interceptor follows up this year's Jensen & Friends LP with a four-track EP named after the Thermaic Gulf in Greece, where his family hails from.

The inspiration goes deeper than just the title as Jensen has delved into the sounds, both ancient and modern, of his motherland.

Whether sampling sounds from some of his favourite Thessaloniki-based drill artists or incorporating live recordings of the Lyra and Pandura, he has woven these elements into the architectural fabric of all four tracks, along with all the humour, charm & hallmarks we would come to expect from the Berlin-based one-man club-banger machine.

Jensen Interceptor - Thermaic Rise (Out now)

As autumn kicks in north of the equator, International Chrome brings a little bit of the global south sunlight as Miss Jay teams up with Sukubratz resulting in the Latin hyperpop stomp of Destello. 


After the release of the well-received mixtape, [untitled], Romanian DJ and producer, Miss Jay, started working with Sukubratz, a Chilean-Italian producer, and vocalist to unite a love of heavily processed vocals with the influence of South American pop. The collaboration meant both artists encouraged and accompanied each other out of their respective comfort zones, with Miss Jay trying out much slower tempos than usual, and Sukubratz leaving their usual spoken word style behind to sing on the track. ‘Destello’ is a Spanish word meaning spark, beam, or sparkle; something reflected in the bright shimmer of the music which has burnished, lustrous sheen, a trademark of the Romanian producer’s work. 

Sukubratz explains the lyrics, “[They] represent a celebration of my surroundings, they evoke the mood and situations that I have/had/and keep experiencing in the club. These moments refer to me and my friends and community being a sharp spark through the night. I used to dislike the club space before approaching it as a DJ and being able to control the crowd, hence why I approach it in a completely different way now after years of working in one and obviously looking for exciting revenge through my writing”

Backing this up, the track has been reworked by an equally glittery collection of artists: the now-Atlanta-based French legend, Brodinski, adds a harder edge with distorted 909 drums, while Amantra ramps up both the tempo with hard kicks fueling her take on the Destello remix with Latin lore.
Keeping things strictly South American, Mexico’s rising star, DJ Fucci turns the track into a Latin club banger, and Brazil's RKills adds a touch of Baile shine to the mix whilst maintaining a crossover sound.

This action-packed collection includes, for the very first time on vinyl, DJ Babatr's legendary breakout club anthem "To-K." Additionally, he is unveiling three never-before-released Raptor classics from his vault: "Soundmind," "BUTTA (Piano Mix)," and "DANCE THE SQUAST."

Limited to 200 copies, these tracks are fully loaded with all the signature trimmings and hallmarks we've come to love from the Venezuelan rave king.

Jensen Interceptor returns with the first single from his forthcoming LP, Interception, which lands 11th September 2025

In 2024, a freak accident at an event he was playing left him with multiple broken bones in his foot. The forced downtime became an opportunity for introspection, allowing him to revisit earlier projects and explore new musical territories. Blending his signature electro with genres such as IDM, footwork, and baile funk, Melas used this recovery period to fuse old influences with fresh global sounds.

“Since I started making music I’ve always made music geared towards use in my DJ sets but there’s always been an urge to explore the deeper side of electronic music.  That time off after the accident gave me the space to dive into genres and really experiment.”

The accident came at a time when he had already spent time, like so many others though the COVID-19 pandemic, assessing his next move. A full tour schedule had left him feeling constrained by the limitations of working in a single genre. As such, Interception is the end point of this reassessment and the start point of what Melas sees as the next stage of his musical evolution.

“I really wanted to challenge and, I guess, prove myself in other spheres, to take my music to a new place. I’ve never wanted to be too repetitive and found that expectations, imagined or real, were forcing me to get stuck on a specific sound both in my productions and DJ sets.”

Up next for our charity series 'International Chromies' we have a very dangerous 5 track EP from one of the sharpest electronic technicians in the kitchen 'Dagga' with his 'House Of Flying Daggers' EP.

Originally from Venezuela but now based in Bogotá, Dagga showcases his razor sharp ability to slice and dice a variety of flavours like Electro, Funk Carioca, Breaks & Techno with perfect precision on INTLCS002. Enlisting some help from the very talented DJ & Rapper 'DJ Fuckoff' who lays down some sweat drenched bars on 'Trick' the EP has all the serrated dance blades needed to cut through the most stubborn of dance floors.

With every Chromies release we like to ask our artist's which charity is closest to their heart and Dagga has chosen the Crisis in Yemen. So 100% of the profits from this release will be going to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) who are providing health, reproductive health nutrition, water and sanitation services to more than a quarter-million people. They also are delivering essential drugs and medical supplies to hospitals & training health staff on cholera treatment.

This time around we will be donating to Kampania Przeciw Homofobii In Poland 🏳️‍🌈  KPH are a non-profit organisation helping our Polish LGBTQ+ brothers & sisters who are subject to some of the harshest discrimination in the world thanks to a openly homophobic government. According to KPH Every third LGBTQ+ person in Poland faces physical or psychological violence and young people do not feel safe in their schools or homes.

Governments in Poland started passing resolutions last year declaring themselves to be free of “LGBT ideology.” This toxic rhetoric has only served to deepen the external divisions between religious conservatives & the socially liberal poles. This is obviously unacceptable and needs to change immediately and that change is a possibility thanks to people like KPH. They use donations to organise social campaigns, educational materials, advocacy activities (including meetings with decision-makers and participation in the legislative process), to conduct media activities and court cases. These are long-term activities which need our support.

We've been blown away by the response to this series, and together we've raised over €3,000 for great causes. 

This time around we're giving ultimate respect to the originators, with 100% of funds raised going to the Underground Music Academy in Detroit (https://ioby.org/project/underground-music-academy). 

It shouldn't need saying but without Motown, Undergound Resistance and so many more from the city of Detroit, music history would be immeasurably different, and so we can't think of a better way of paying back than by helping the next generation of Detroit's musicians. We can't wait to find out what comes out of the academy. 

Hopefully 2021 will see us all able to get together and enjoy music together but until then, take care, stay safe & happy holidays"

5ZYL & 666uba - VLN Blaster

For this edition of Chromies we’re sending all the money to the he School Of Bop in London, which is a free to attend space and are providing music workshops for young people aged 13-25. SoB opens an avenue for self-expression of young people from all walks of life. In a safe and inspiring space, the workshops venture into the sounds of Hip Hop, Soul, Jazz, Garage, Drill, Afrobeat and Grime. By exposing young people to talented professionals, they aim to highlight the idea that music can be a viable career path as well as creative and therapeutic outlet. 

We would like to send a big thank you to Voiron, Shawn Cartier, Dufraine, YTP, konerytmi & Cyphon for their killer electro contributions and also a huge thank you to SOB for all they are doing with this incredible project & for allowing us to try to help out as best we can.
