Trinidad & Tobago Carnival 2011 was an Amazing experience musically. As most of you might know, The Shutdown Part 1 was mixed and released before carnival. Due to the major success of it, and the many request for a follow up, the idea for Shutdown 2 came about. After months of back and forth, here it is finally. Not only is it Representing Trinidad but many other islands such as Dominica, Monserrat, Jamaica, Virgin Islands, and a first for me, Aruba, "and yes Aruba has Soca". This Mix was also done in Memory of my close Family members that were tragically killed in a car accident at the end of trinidad carnival and 2 very close friends of mine as well. Growing up in a household with a Father as a DJ and A Mother that loves music just as much, helped me to appreciate sweet soca music in those times. Times that music blasting through the walls was the only form of communication needed to get through the day. A favorite shared by both my mom and dad is "The Baron". A living Legend in his own right. Known in his popularity as one the sweetest voices in SOCA, or as his tag name followed "Sweet Soca Man". Being a Favorite to both my parents, it was easy for his music to become part of me as well. Often times as humans we wait until someone has passed and gone before we show tribute to there greatness. Not in this case, Here is my Tribute to "The Baron". Dedicated to my Mom "Antoinette" and My Dad "Stephen Sr".
