“Paper Ruins” is a dramatic and melancholic debut from Sozorie, an up-and-coming producer from Minsk, Belarus. Beautiful experimental ambient and arty electronica inspired by “visionary architecture,” the kind of architecture that is not realistic and only exists on paper.

Nikolay Steshitz, the person behind Sozorie, is really enjoying creating what he calls “controlled aggression” in his sound. Indeed, even the lushest moments of “Paper Ruins” possess a certain tension, buried underneath the elusive melodies and the rubbery beats.

The album showcases a rich production palette. Some synth work here sounds “classic,” repurposing the classic IDM/electronica/downtempo canon. But then everything changes, and we get more penetrative, siren-like hyperboles that clash against glitches, kick drums, and distorted clangs shaping rhythmic passages not dissimilar to early Amnesia Scanner. Sozorie ties all of these broad influences into a knot and carefully places them inside a narrative, and it does feel like a scaled paper model of a brilliant, strange building. Steshitz comes up with a fresh vision and an excellent record equal parts a home listening trip and great material for the more adventurous DJs.

Premiering "Everything's Wrong" by Dj Malaït taken from "Everything's Right / Wrong" out digitally on June 15th via xenonyms

Dj Malaït is a Russian producer based in Barcelona. Better known as ZebaKnizel for his work in the offline meeting point collective, where he releases most of his tracks.

He has performed (and still does) alongside several bands of different genres, but his interest in electronic music grew a lot in the last two years and currently he's fascinated with experimenting and mixing different patterns and genres. His style is influenced by IDM artists, poly rhythms, and wandering harmonies.

This particular release was created with the intention of mixing all sorts of latin percussion vibes, adding some more electronic elements, and some rhythm complications that might make the listener count each beat before dancing confidently.

You can be a glitch if you want to be. Actually, you can be whatever you desire. This is the main idea behind Max Dahlhaus’ new EP Be A Glitch which, in his own words, is inspired by Sartre’s Existentialism Is a Humanism. The work reveals a connection to three key concepts in the French philosopher’s landmark essay: anguish, abandonment and despair. 
These words could easily form a slogan for our times, and the moods they signify are all apparent throughout the four tracks on Be a Glitch. Dahlhaus crafts extraordinary sounds out of these gloomy feelings, blending straightforward rhythms with noises, glitches and overlapping melodies. Echoes of club music reverberate here too, but this is a work that offers something more complex and reflective than four-to-the-floor repetition. 
Though Be A Glitch is an entire, cohesive work, it includes remixes from two of Dahlhaus’ favourite musicians, both of whom remodel his Artificial Prodigy into something completely different. Berlin-based Aquarian goes into breakbeat and drill-and-bass territory in his remix, while Berlin’s Born In Flamez takes the original and turns it into a post-pop groove. The result is as radical as Dahlhaus’ approach to working with sound.

LE SERVICE HUMAIN is Gabriel (Chabanel), Jean (ottoman.grüw) and Léo  (ROOM) ; a subversive gathering from different approaches, in order to  experiment with industrial sounds. 

Montreal Dances Across Borders (MDAB) is a series of solidarity  compilations bringing together artists of “underground dance music” in  Montreal (originally Tiotia:ke in the language of Kanien’kehá:ka people). This project is to remind that this music, embodied in spaces, is above all  political - and made to unite across all types of physical or abstract  borders. 
All profits of the compilations are donated to Solidarity Across Borders (www.solidarityacrossborders.org) — a non-profit organization that works to  protect human rights, active in Montreal since 2003.
